Despite security, yes a version ended up in the hands of someone hooked upto p2ps. It only takes one, then it propagates outwards like a virus.

How they got it, I don't know. The CD was being transported around the world to listening sessions, perhaps someone borrowed it and made a copy, it would have only taken a few minutes on a laptop, or maybe someone just got bribed.

Anyway, it would have ended up on p2ps on the day of the album release anyway, all this did is bring it forward 2 weeks.

Review copies have already been sent out so it'll be one of those that someone leaked.

It's the same for every album these days, what would make Prince's so different?

people wanted it... it was there... they stole it. it is something the industry will have to come to terms with. they could do it.. encode the demos diffrently so they will only work in a spcific player. maybe they need 2 cds to work? they could do it... same with movies. they can fix it.
