Princes main reason for leaving WB

I remember reading in all kinds of magazines and in a few interviews that Prince left WB due to not letting him release more than 1 album per year. I know, I know the masters thing also. But my question to Prince is: Where's all this music you were going to release??

Don't get me wrong I dig 3121, but 1 album in almost 2 years? The mainstream public won't buy so much Prince but I know his fanbase would fork out a ton of cash. I know I would.

Um, not quite...it had more to do with not owning his masters and wanting a larger portion of the profits. The "more music" tangent was just filler, really...although he DID put out a helluva lot of music afterwards.

And also at that time he kept talking about 'Freeing the music'
he complained because the WB wouldn't let him release the free undertaker cd on the cover of guitar magazine.
now since his studio version of fury is yet more evidence he will never release a true rock album, why doesnt he do a cd like undertaker now, with half a dozen kick-ass guitar tracks in the style of SNL and give it to guitar mag b4 his new tour kicks off. we've seen the stunned reactions from the broader rock community to his SNL appearance, this would be a much better idea than performing on some third rate day-time talk-show where only the already converted would tune in.
I'm sure sonny and mr b would be up to it! lol

I would kill to see an album full of Fury, Let's Go Crazy, Joy In Repetition type of songs. Tired of going through a rack of CD's so that I can collate all the guitar tracks onto one CD.

If he did make a kick ass rock album somebody would complain that he did not do a jazz album,or a live album, or a piano album,or an avant garde album or ,or,or.....

I given up on believing he will ever release a true studio rock album, thats why i'm hoping he will maybe do a spicific guitar-magizine type free disk of balls-out guitar rock, power trio style, like undertaker. A live to DAT cd emphasising his guitar ability - it wouldn't need to upset any current studio released album, but it WOULD (like the SNL performance) blow the mind of many guitar heads who dismiss him based on his image and who wouldn't normally listen to his music.
And for us true fans who will never get THE full-on prince guitar rock album we have longed for (purple rain is NOT even close to what i mean), a side release like this would be magic beyond belief.

- And it is a short album, like Musicology. Where are the jams? I miss the days when Prince liked to jam. Specially when he jammed with himself, like on ´I wanna be your lover´....that groove could go on and on forever...
