The best song from 3121 IMO. it reminds me of Michael Jackson "Ghosts" crossed with Prince's "Jam Of The Year" with a little bit of "Come"

But it is better than all 3 IMO, the vocals are perfect, it's VERY commercial, the acoustic guitar riff and hornz are funky. Great lyrics, love the funky beat at the end.

the studio version of Fury is SOOOOO watered down, IMO.

The Word is my Jam! It doesn't sound like any song I've heard from him before. It sounds more airy to me. The guitars are so great and his voice. Oh my God his voice sounds so for lack of a better word "dreamy". I love it so much.

It reminds me very much of the Lovesexy era, I think of God Is Alive and even I Wish U Heaven. Great stuff!

Love, The Word, The Dance, 3121, ... I repeatedly listen to these tracks. It's been a long time since I was soooo in love with a Prince album.

This is really my type of stuff!

And I was already raving and ranting about TRC, but this is miles ahead!

Lolita, Get On the Boat, Fury, Black Sweat,... all of them really

for some reason "The Word", structurally, reminds me of "7"

I like it a lot and it is indeed one of the best cuts from
the album.

its too soon to be sure but i really do think this is my favorite song in the collection. sure, its religious, but its not preachy. i mean, the cross is religious but not in a preachy way. and i've yet to hear anyone bitch about the cross being a bad song just because it has a religious backbone.

yes, this song is tight. the melody is intoxicating and his voice is wonderful on this track. i really love this one!
