Prince special coming up on New Zealand national radio. The show is called "Musicology" and will be 2 one hr episodes on Prince as a composer. The shows will air some time in May. It will be 2 thirds music and a third will be spoken by the host of the programme. Oh yeah, which is me by the way. If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

Excellent, sounds good. I dont have much more details yet. I am going to to RNZ tommorow for the voice testing and then myself and the other co producer who has a weekly show will write the script and decide what to feature. Any ideas from anyone will be appreciated. I want to focus on Princes talent as a musician, influence and diversity. If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

Looking forward to it! And hoping that the little guy finally makes it to NZ on his next world tour. Maybe if that downtown stadium gets finished in time...
I have had the pleasure of seeing him live (Mountain View, CA, USA, October 1998) where he jammed with Carlos Santana and blew my mind... There was a bFM DJ a few years back who always started his 6pm Saturday show with a Prince strack. Paul Stowers. Huge fan. I used to go to school with him, he's a writer / journo / magazine editor thesedays. If you needed more input I could probably put you in touch with him. Wendy Melvoin of course played on the last solo album by (and toured with) NZ legend Neil Finn. I don't know if you're going to delve into any of the band members, but there's a nice kiwi connection there, [Edited 3/6/06 15:47pm]

I hope so and hallejulah, there is something for us Kiwi Prince fans at last. Our national radio is very good and very objective, and the best thing is I can download it on to my IPOD. Can you (Lust) get the P man to do a special shoutout to Tane 1976 the most loyal Prince fan in NEW ZEALAND.
Seriously this is the shit. 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

New NZ inhabitant... which radio station is this going to be on? Will you be able to play the audio track of the Brits performance? My other half arrived this week and 'forgot' to bring the tape with her....

It will be on National Radio, unfortunately visitors to New Zealand will find its on different frequencies all over the country, for instance in Christchurch it is 101.7Fm, and Auckland I think its 93.4fm 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

I will definately put some some live stuff in there, dont know what yet, buts something with a wicked guitar solo prolly. Honestly dont envisage it being the brits show though. Too much material, too little air time. Im keen for Purple house from Rave un2 2000 or the ride from alladin. So you are new here, where are you? Okay so its actually going to feature on Concert Fm which is for Classical Music. This gives me some real scope to go into some of the side projects and make an indepth annalysis of Prince as a composer. I did the sound test last night and I think its going to be really good. Im a bit nervous having never done anything like this befor, but what a great oppurtunity. If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

Just moved to Oamaru... a very nice, small, south island town.
Thoroughly enjoying myself. Thorough annoyed that a month and half after I move over here Pricne decides to play The Brits! Hey-ho... It would have all been ok, except I don't have Prime and I don't have a wife who can remember to bring a video tape over with her! (I have one who can't, however.) So, Concert FM... Can I get that down south?

You will be pleased to know Concert FM is receivable in all parts of the country, but I can barely pick up Prime here in Christchurch. However a change may come. 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

Christchurch and Dunedin are pretty cool places. A friend of mine used to live in Wanaka, an extremely beautiful place indeed. Oamaru is a splendid place. They have up to four bars! No music shops though ... They do have an excellent little club for live music, which is constantly attracting a lot of local talent.
Enjoying it so far. Looking forward to shivering throughout the whole of winter.

Its actually on the same lataitude south as Minneapolis north, and unlike Minneapolis its not -20 centigrade in the winter, rather in the South Island our winters are very mild, its about 10 degrees positive most days, and nights never drop below minus 5, snow is a rarity in coastal NZ, when it comes its on all the news and radio. April has temperatures as high as the 20s and days with highs about 17-18 (60-65F) are not unknown in July/August. If anything we whinge about our weather as it rains a lot in winter. Its more like the UK than Antarctica. Now in mid March its 20 degrees in Christchurch. 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince
