3121

3121 - the song

Anybody noticed how this tracks sounds like Days of Wild (particularly the live interpretations of recent years). The drums, the bass line, do u think that 3121 came out of a jam of DOW?

I agree, I was thinking the same thing, that it sounds like Days of Wild. I love it though. Sounds like Mike Bland and Sonny T. definately on this one

Cool to hear what others hear in it. I'm getting kinda a cross between "Dream Factory", something from the "Undertaker" and something else I can't put my finger on. But it's still fresh. I love it!

i'm thinking that it's not a coincidence that there is a
ghust of wind sample blowing through the song at the very
start. remember d'angelo had that on his album voodoo as
well.

a little prince jab?

Now I can't remember the song title but it is on NPS and has some lyrics like "I got some butter for you muffin", "give me the keys to your room" or something similiar. I don't have NPS taking space up on my IPOD so I can't check until I get home but it certainly reminds me of 3121.

After only a few listens it's hard to tell but I think I will eventually agree.

Not sure when it started but for me Musicology was completely recycled - even my girlfriend after her first listen said that she had heard it before eek

There are similarities but it doesn't make my head bob like the montreal DOW. I like the groove on 3121 but it's missing something.

This song sounds like Prince reclaiming his place from DAngelo and Beck as far as odd funky humerous (and even dark) concept jams.

Scifi funkpop prince.

my favorite type of Prince!

I wonder how many of you all will still like this song after you figure out what the lyrics mean. But you still like "Let's Go Crazy," right? Same theme -- different take.

The first couple of seconds reminded me of The Exodus Has begun and then i just lose myself in raw funk.
It a class tune,
"Take your pick from the japanese robes and sandals, drink champagne from a glass with chocolate handles"

contender for the best line ever.
biggrin

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
woot!

That's my favorite Prince lyric, ever. smile Funky beyond belief. A space-age, esoteric funk. Sounds like a great party to me.

My vote for funkiest lyric ever,

"My bed's a coffin, dracula ain't got shit on me
My nickname's hell's-a-poppin', I'm badder than the wicked witch
I got a gold tooth, costs more than your house.
I got a diamond ring on four fingers, each one the size of a
mouse."

That first line is the funkiest shit ever!
"What a lovely fat beat with a zompige baslijn"
