7 (Acoustic)

Any version of this song is great, but this is my absolute favourite.

This song gets little love usually, but it is absolute GENIUS.

Listen to the lyrics...the message... apocalyptic visions, assuaged with a marvellous message of hope... "there will be a new city of gold; the young so educated they never get old"

Well you believe in God or not.. it's a really nice thought!

Who else loves this song and do you rate it as one of his classics?

The song is EXCELLENT as are all of the Remixes. I know I bought every Vinyl and cd I could get my hands on.

This song is so very good, one of the most unique tracks ever.I can understand how it might not be everyones bag but I really don't understand why it gets slated so much here.

Hmm...I think ever since I've been here on prince.org, I've heard nothing but praise for the song. Maybe I haven't been around long enough!

It is really one of my absolute favorite songs. I really love the very minimalist rhythm track, and, gosh, that choir, that "army of Princes!" Incredible.

Edit: Oh, and personally, the only acoustic version I've heard of this song is a live recording. I'm not sure if this is the same acoustic remix you are talking about. Between the two I've heard, I prefer the studio version.

I love this song, although I haven't heard the acoustic remix. Isn't it supposed to be on that Ultimate Prince cd. I'm looking foward to hearing it.

that's the mix i am talking about. it's just much more stripped down and you can hear prince's vocal layering a lot clearer. it is orgiastic to the ears!

That's the only version of 7 that I really dig.

On the CD Single, the b-side was "7 (Acoustic Version)" OH and it also had "2 whomever it may concern" on it too.

7 on a whole was possibly the best video of the 90's.

The song has really good lyrics smile
