It's a great track and a great album. Not sure if I have a favourite track yet though but there's nothing on there that I don't like.

I am digging the first track 3121, but its all lovely.

I really like Love, I think it would be a good single choice, it has an insistent beat that would do well in clubs AND on radio, although perhaps it is not too dissimilar enough from Black Sweat. Prince likes to release a varied selection of singles, usually.

The Word is pretty good, but I can't decide whether that little synth horn riff is catchy or annoying!

I only heard the album like 2 and half times but I distinctly remember loving the sound of The Word. Can't wait to hear it again.

okay, SallySass, you may be able to help with this.

Since my first listen to the song, something about it, between the beat and the horn-line, makes me brain flash to images of me dancing in a crowded, dirty warehouse near dawn.

What I think my head is telling me is that it's reminiscent of an old-school house/techno song. Something from my rave days. Do you have ANY idea what I'm talking about?



If I can just figure out the connection, I can return to listening to the song in peace.

Not too many responses to this thread...I think we're still the odd man out on this one. I think this may be mmy favorite track as well.

The Word and Love are definitely two of the better songs on the album.

This song may very well be my favorite song on 3121. It pure heavenly bliss.

It's the more trite, horribly overused word in the English language barring, obviously, 'fuck' and and exclaimed 'Jesus!' , but this song truly is the work of a genius.
And I also quite like the chorus' cheesy lyrical spider's web metaphor for spiritual confusion. Lovesexy takes Come up the bum. Fantabulous.

I like Love with The Word second. Everything else, outside of Black Sweat, which is really tertiary, is secondary.

To me, this is an excellent Prince album, but we're so in tuned to what we want from him that the attempts to appease everyone don't necessarily do it for those who have specific tastes.

For example, I want another 1999 with all that electronica, but then again I'm spoiled.

This is a really strong song and one of my favs too.

I too really love this song. My favourite part is "who's gonna save us when the spiders get next to you..." that part sounds awesome!!

It's a highlight of the album, imo. Opening with some crisp acoustic guitar, closing with a great guitar solo, and filled in between with a semi-uplifting beat... The song is spiritual at it's core but the message is presented in such a welcoming manner that his previous preaching is forgiven (momentarily)... Think Lovesexy, not The Rainbow Children. Amen.

I dunno if you people heard about it.. but there has been some research done in a lab, and it turns out that 'the dance' is the best tune on 3121

One of my faves as well, as proof that maybe Prince is going more mainstream Christian.

yea, i concur on the love and the word, with more emphasis on the word....but i am also digging lolita, no one else does?
