i like the end, even if it's a blatant "cool" rehash. he could put that chanty dancy fun thing in at the end of every song like wesley willis and i wouldn't mind.

Me loves the cheese, and sorry for putting this song down No need to apology! I am going to listen to 3121 again and sometimes with Prince's songs, it will take a few listenings or more before it grows on u.

Me loves the cheese, and sorry for putting this song down the only thing that cheesy about it is that bridge/chorus "lolita your sweeta but you never ever ever, no you'll never ever ever, no you never ever, ever make a cheata outta me" That is embarassing....the song is otherwise ok. The synths are nice as is the beat. The Time thing at the end is OK also but hes done it before. The women on these chants since around Emancipation always sound like him acting like a woman. This song sounds nothing like Soft & Wet or Head which I have seen on this board. It clearly is from the Emancipation sessions and sounds a whole heck of a lot like Get Your Groove On except the vocal is better here (thank goodness no falsetto) I will take it one step futher it also sounds like the NPS cut "When you love somebody" Just not nearly as corny. To me corny & cheesy are the same thing. The thing is Price has always been corny/cheesy but earlier on he could always make it work...right around Lovesexy he started to loose his touch Glam Slam thank you mame Diamond and Pearls would you be a happy boy or girl TMBGITW...your the reason that God made a girl P can be extremly corny...sometimes it works others and most recently it hasn't. Lolita is a ice liitle groove but that friggin chorus bothers the heck out of me...nearly ruins the groove. Thats how much it bothers me [Edited 3/8/06 10:03am] Dance... Let me see you dance

Someone else said it was a merging of "Soft & Wet" and "Cool"...that comparison seemed to almost nail it perfectly.

P can definitely be corny. Your examples point that out perfectly. Lolita is corny, but catchy. Another example of P's corniest is on the song "Love." I cringe when P and Tamar say "Bounce, baby...shake that thang, come on."

Hey, it took me 2 listens for me to get Lolita. The song is HAWT! I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Thank goddess I love Prince for his music and not for the corny lyrics at times.

I have a theory that if Madonna said the line "Bounce, baby...shake that thang, come on", people would talk about how cool it was to throw in an "old school" line like that...but when Prince does it, it a cheesy attempt to sound hip. Whether or not that says something good or bad, I dunno...

I guess the difference being the lyrics you quoted are Prince's own takes on cliches where as the call to "Bounce!" has been played out for years. I think of the Outkast intro to Stankonia in response. It's like the "It's going down,y'all, like the Wall of Berlin." Street as '92, babe-eee. Throw your hands up in the air, wave 'em like you just don't care, Prince, make some nooiiise. No hard feelings.

I want to hear a rock version of Lolita. Some guitars instead of the synth.
The synth is cool, I just want a rock version too. I'm greedy. "What a lovely fat beat with a zompige baslijn"

That part sounds corny to me...but over all I really like "Love" It moves. Shake that booty come on? Lord Prince invented the phrase shake that booty didn't he? Dance... Let me see you dance
