What has been your reaction to 3121?
I like most of it quite a bit. 
What is your favorite song so far? The title track. It is very dirty funk -- it's been a long time since I've heard Prince get futuristicly funky like this. What is the song you dislike the most? Incense and Candles. I like Prince because I don't have to listen to songs like this. Blah. Which songs would you replace on the album? Replace Incense and Candles with Glasscutter. Which songs do you think might grow on you? Te Amo Corazon Do you think 3121 will be a chart-topper? No...but it's been a success with media buzz already, I think. The tour will help. What has been your reaction to 3121?
A bland, overhyped, slice of MTV pop and urban beats from an otherwise genius. What is your favorite song so far? 3121, though it's only as good as some of his better outtakes. What is the song you dislike the most? Incense and Candles. Possibly the most desperate song in his catalog, though Love's music and production sounds more akin to Justin Timberlake than vintage Prince. Though even Justin Timberlake might request a rewrite on some of the hamfisted lyrics. Which songs would you replace on the album? I'd keep The Truth, even with it's preaching and dodgy vocal effect and 3121. Which songs do you think might grow on you? Fury's saving grace is it's guitar playing, but I'm not sure I want to squint through that synth or his lazy vocals to enjoy it. Do you think 3121 will be a chart-topper? If Universal spends money to promote, that's all it takes. Though I don't suspect it will be on top for long. What is the last Prince album you actually enjoyed? One Night Alone, Live. A record full of exoticism and energy--good funk and pop! What is your favorite song so far? Hmmmm...Fury rocks it! What is the song you dislike the most? Black Sweat Which songs would you replace on the album? Black Sweat and probably Incense & Candles Which songs do you think might grow on you? Definitely Te Amo Corazon Do you think 3121 will be a chart-topper? Maybe, but I think the promotion can be a little bit better. Universal Records are killing the man's album by calling it a "historic" album. What is the last Prince album you actually enjoyed? Musicology- What a killer album... It's a collection of quite good songs in overall, but as an album it does absolutely nothing to me. What is your favorite song so far? "Te Amo Corazon", I guess I'm just a sentimental old What is the song you dislike the most? "Incense And Candles" - it's not really that badm but one just has to wonder why it's on a Prince album. Which songs would you replace on the album? Seriously? I would replace "Incense And Candles", "Love", "The Word", "Beautiful, Loved And Blessed". They're all good songs, but just from my personal view they are the ones that make the album seems so horridly bland in overall. "The Dance" isn't helping that sentiment too much either. Which songs do you think might grow on you? Hmmm. Maybe "Satisfied" and "The Dance" Do you think 3121 will be a chart-topper? I seriously can't predict anything like that anymore. But my guess is that it won't do as good as some of you here might wish it did. What is the last Prince album you actually enjoyed? "Musicology", I think it had at least heaploads of "mature" emotion, which "3121" fails to deliver for the most part. | |

What has been your reaction to 3121?
My first reaction was "sounds great". My second reaction was "mmmkey.. not sure I like Lolita, Incense and Candles". My third reaction was "it does sound a bit like Emancipation -- done right". What is your favorite song so far? Curiously, I'm not yet enthralled with any one song. I'm still digesting it all. Right now, Get on the Boat is on my mind a lot, but for the first few days it was 3121 and The Word. What is the song you dislike the most? I'm afraid it's going to be Incense and Candles, though to be honest I haven't really summonned the courage to really listen to it. Lolita has grown on me a little but it might just fall off any time, especially the way he says "lolita" sometimes! Which songs would you replace on the album? I guess I didn't want a song like Incense and Candles. I would probably have added a second rock number. Which songs do you think might grow on you? Love might grow on me. I'm not too crazy about it. Usually, I like this kind of song, but I can't help but think of MJ and I don't want that. I think there's a reason Prince steered clear of MJ territory for so long though I want to be proven wrong. Do you think 3121 will be a chart-topper? It could be a top 5 album like Musicology but I don't really expect it to go beyond the 1 or 2 million mark. I would be very surprised the world suddenly rediscovered it is fond of Prince. What is the last Prince album you actually enjoyed? It comes out next Tuesday. Like it or not you are BREAKING THE LAW by downloading it early. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |
