Do your parents dig any of his songs??

Silly question - but did you ever subject your folks to him so much, that they actually started diggin him???
I remember putting the Lovesexy video on (as we only owned 1 video at home when I was growing up) and my mum was in the living room while I had it on, and when he started singing 'Kiss' she was peeking over her newspaper smiling and tapping her feet! My dad also digs 'The Cross' after me sticking my headphones on him while driving up the motorway - he sais he likes the way it 'builds up' with the music??? how cool....my dad diggin Prince.. lol touched thumbs up! Bless him - Im so proud.. worship nod

Um. My Mom likes his songs. She sings along with me sometimes. lol... she thought that Prince said, "count your blessings" instead of "controversy" in Controversy. It was funny...

To be honest, my mother didn't care half that much for Prince when I was a teenager, she thought it was way too weird for her and that his falsetto voice was just unmasculine. But now she's profoundly delighted to listen to Prince records when she comes over to my house, you know, instead of having to listen to my own music."I am going to leave this house if you are not putting that thing off right now!" There's nothing like your own mother's love.

smile My Mom is 78 and she STILL likes Prince alot.
When I was growing up she use to like alot of his songs.. (altho
I never let her hear "Some" of his more racey stuff) LOL
But even to this day she will call me and say "They were just
talking about Prince on the news, and they showed a Clip of him
from a concert... He looks SOOO cute!!!"
My dad likes his guitar playing and he said he looks MUCH nicer now.
He said he looked like a "jungle boy" in the late 70's.. but
he likes how he dresss now and he said that he can see how
talented he is from watching him on TV perform.
I have pretty hip parents.. wink

I am a parent and a fan since 1978. I still play a lot of Prince in the car and in the house. My boys (both under ten) know who Prince is and his music and is showing an intrest in playing guitar and keys. Too young to see Purple Rain, but I have mostly all the videos and we watch them a lot. Will they thank me later for turning them on to Prince? smile

This has been asked before not so long ago.

My Dad loves "Purple Rain" and could regularly be seen gardening with it on his walkman, stopping occasionally to play a guitar solo on his spade.

my dad has admitted to listening to one of my old prince tapes while he's driving around in his car, but he hasn't told me what songs that he likes. also, my mom liked the purple rain album. "darling nikki" was her fave track off of it.

My dad likes the old school Prince from 1978-84 better just like I do. As a matter of fact, he introduced me a bit to Prince's World by allowed me played The Time Ice Cream Castles cassette tape. At the time, I didn't know Prince had any involvement with the Time much less his involvement with Ice Cream Castles album.

My mother thinks Prince is okay and likes his 1999 albumbut then again she doesn't like just about any music after 1979.

My mother doesn't dislike Prince but she's not a fan, per se, either - but she has always loved "Delirious". When it came out in the 80s she used to turn it up when it came on the radio, and would every time comment about how much she liked the song.

My Dad had 'Dirty Mind' upon release. i was 10, i wouldn't buy my first P album til '84. he already had his first few albums, he's more up on what's going on with 'new' music than i am. He's 60 and subscribes to 'Mojo' magazine. he's always like, "Damn, you've just got to hear this band!"

Both of my parents dig Prince. My dad is the one that initially turned my brothers and I onto his music. Pops was always into all the latest music that came out. So when P dropped 'Soft & Wet' he was into the music from that point on. I think aside from the music, he liked that Prince's albums were always recorded very well.

When i lived at home no. Playing "Sexy MF" at full volume while they were entertaining didn't go down too well.
However a year or so after moving out into my own place I noticed my dad had bought the Hits 3-cd set - guess he must have missed hearing those songs coming thru the ceiling.
My sister hated him too, but I took her to the Nude tour and when he played "Electric Man" she went nuts and said she could definitely see his appeal after that.
