Will someone bid ONE DOLLAR?

Bid often and lets see how high the value goes.

I hope his people keep a keen eye on this
and prevent ebay from selling them, which I'm sure they will be alerted.

The only way will be to do it without advertising.

Without the right statements on such a ticket, Prince will be unable to do anything about the sale of such an item. The ticket would have to be legally nontransferable.

Supposedly they are not going to be transferrable. So you wouldn't be able to put them up on Ebay.

Actually, re-reading the rules, it appears that the tickets will be given out from a random draw of entrants:

Sponsor reserves the right to conduct a random drawing to award the prizes from among all eligible

So basically that means when you buy the album you will have the chance to enter the draw, by email or letter or something that you have to send off. And then it's pot luck when you win, but if you did, the ticket would be only eligible for your name at your address, it is non-transferrable, hence there aren't any real 'tickets' to sell on Ebay (although I wouldn't be surprised if some unscrupulous types tried to pull of some scam claiming they had one of the tickets for sale...)

Another thing, I've heard there are only going to be 8 tickets, 7 for the USA and only 1 in Europe. I don't think they are prepared to fork out for plane flights from just anywhere.

Because you won't know you've won purely from the CD. I should think the CD will just have an address or email to send entries into. Like the previous Itunes competition, you can just send in an entry by postcard. Then the winners are picked out of a hat and notified - hence no chance of transferring.

i doubt they can enfore the non-trassfrablity of them. well not the ones you find in a CD case anyway. but on ebay i would say it would go for at least $1000.

then it is a diffrent contest than what it was made out to be and some people are going to be PISSED off when they open their CD to find a PURPLE entery form!

the cd purple tickets are different than the itunes tickets. there are actual purple winning tickets in select cds, as posted by PP6 at npgmc:

In the case of the real purple tickets, there is no "drawing" like with iTunes where a random purchaser gets picked. With iTunes, if u bought the download, they pick a random person, contact them, and give them a week 2 respond. Makes sense. Purple tickets are ENTIRELY different. It is an actual physical ticket placed inside the CD package. So once u get an actual physical ticket, u have already won. I'm sure the deadline 2 let someone know is within a reasonable time b4 the actual per4mance occurs (most likely early 2 mid May).

So let's not jump 2 conclusions and post a dozen sad faces, okay? smile

Fair enough, I'll admit when I'm wrong, I hadn't heard of that before.

On the Itunes competition, they stated that a prize of $3000 could be given if the event didn't come off for whatever reason. So the price of a ticket on Ebay should be at least that.

The problem with selling it on Ebay is that anyone from anywhere in the world could bid and buy it - but there's no way Universal are going to fork out for transportation from any country in the world, so whoever buys it may have to fork out yet more for their own transportation over to the US. It is rumoured that there are 7 tickets for the US and only 1 for Europe - and that doesn't even include the UK, which apparently can't include this promotion and still qualify the album for the UK chart - but once you sell on Ebay, that region restriction goes out of the window! Is it possible Universal haven't considered the possibility of people auctioning their tickets?

It would be kind of awful if someone in, say, Japan bought a ticket for a huge sum, and then when contacted Universal to be told they weren't in a qualifying country and therefore the ticket was useless...

Even to those who would like to believe the tickets are nontransferable, this is a farfectched reality.

Lets say I won the ticket. I can't sell the ticket. I can however sell the cd with all parts included. There is always a way around things. Tickets for shows are onsale all the time at ebay.

As for "selling the guest spot" on your ticket won. If I were to go I would know who I am taking already, my love, but if you are one that doesn't have the placement set already, then the truth is you would be selling the guest spot regardless if it was for money, sexual favors, or rightous friendship.

just like they tried to say after the fact that one could not sell a npgmc member ticket in 2004... they can not do that. the sale is final what the buyer dose after that is out of their hands.

Can't see how they can be non-transferable, since they won't know who got one
in the first place. Say I found a purple ticket then sold it to someone else...
how would anyone know that the person I sold it to wasn't the one who found it?
They can't.

Are you talking about concert tickets? Didn't go to the Musicology tour, but on the ONA tour you were limited to 2 tickets and you had to show up in person with your credit card to prove it was you to collect your tickets and go straight in.

This was to stop touts buying tickets and selling them to non-npgmc members for extortionate prices, to make sure it was dedicated fans up front gettting a good view for a change, and I think they were right to do that.
