Originally recorded in '85 - '86 sometime. First released as an internet only single on the original NPG website in 2000, then again in 2001 as part of the first edition of the monthly version of the club.

It's not on any album.

Not officially at present, no...

There were quite a few new tracks that were released online during the first year of the npgmc but which are no longer available:

Contest Song (npgmc members were asked to add vocals in a competition)
Funky Design
Habibi
Instrumental (based on The Holy River tune)
Mad
We Gonna Make It Fonky (mostly Maceo Parker)
Rebirth of the Flesh (live rehearsal)
Also Jukebox (With a Heartbeat) featured on one of the 11 ahdio shows.

Back when all people seemd to do was talk about and trade bootlegged Prince music there cropped up a number of tracks that were fake as all get out. I think a number of them ended up on a boot called Yellow or Rude Boy or something like that mixed in with one or two real Prince demos. And of course people kept asking about them not knowing they were fake.

Somehow the discussion got around to posting fake boot track lists. And just messing around with a song name that had gotten thrown out as a joke a fan that was musically inclined (lol) made a fake song using a Camille-like voice and posted it to alt.music.prince. And all it was, was a really cheesy Prince-like beat with the person saying "hey hannigan" over and over for about 30 seconds. falloff The shit started circulating on Napter and people would pop up every other week asking if it was real.

Oh and I forgot the song used to drive a certain org moderator (only it was the old org not this version we use now) nuts in a playful way when it got mentioned (Matt C.).

Maybe someone else who posted to amp back then can give you more specific details about it.

They stop through every once in a blue. I haven't seen one of T's aliases in a while. He usually posts as TheMessage here.

T is alive and as well as can be expected for someone who dates Goth girls. I heard Rude tried to decommission him by locking him in a room and forcing him to listen to Lib's entire Liberation cd-r series, but I really doubt the story, cuz it would mean Rude could actually bring himself to touch the discs.

Jeez, I have a copy of this. I remember being so excited at hearing all these unknown Prince songs, but hearing them and thinking maybe Prince wasn't all that. There are some "demos" of Alphabet St & Paisley Park on there which sound like someone playing them on a casio keyboard. Ive alwyas thought that many of the tracks on there were fake but im glad to see that is actually the case. Still its the first time I heard Do Yourself a Favour....that kind of blew me away.
