***One Night Alone CD***

Reading all the posts that are downing this cd has astonished me eek

The casual prince listeners and especially the non Prince listeners LOVE this CD.

I put this CD on in my office all the time...
when coworkers come in, after talkin for a lil while, they then take notice to the music playin in the background and always comment "who is this?" ...
when i tell them Prince, they are just so amazed, they never seen or have even thought of Prince in this way.
They all want a copy of this CD.
This CD has opened up many more doors for Prince in a whole new type of listener section.

I work with emotional disturbed teens at a residential facility, and at many times deal with many stressful situations (as u can imagine)
One of my students was having a very difficult time one day, so I had her come into my office and sit with me as I completed some paper work. I had this CD playing low in the background.
I also have a little fountain in my office.
The CD paired with the waterfall flow sound was a perfect combination...after about 15 mins. the student was so calm and relaxed...
The next day the same student came to my office and asked me if she could borrow the cd so she could listen to it in her room before bedtime.
I gladly loaned it to her.
It now helps her relax and drifts her off into a clam nites sleep.

Sooo...whatever u people r talkin bout when u say this CD wont sell...i dont understand u at all.
This is a Beautiful CD...yea U Prince, release this cd to the public mr.green
peace heart

I've had many experiences like that with people who aren't really into Prince. Many times when you play Prince material that isn't known by the general public (basically almost anything that doesn't get airplay) they usually dig it. This tells me a lot.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I've been saying since the first time I received it that it was a winner. It has so much Emotional Depth and it clearly touches one's heart. It's very personal for me and I think for Prince. It's really beautiful and I know it will sell to the public.

i wish we could bet.a person of prince's stature should b able 2 sell at least a million right???i bet he don't sell
100,000 copies.and that's an insult 4 some1 at his level.
how many copies did TRC sell?cut that total in half and that should b a good indicator.

Same here. I was working on some writing tonight, a friend dropped by and asked what was that "strange, hypnotic music" coming from my CD ROM. When I told him Prince, he was floored. He had originally just dropped by for a few minutes. He stayed for the whole duration of ONA and I burned him a copy (Sorry Prince!!!)...It was nice to see someone, who normally wouldn't be into Prince, really dig his music that much. OK, no JW "recruiting" jokes shall be interted here! OK!

I've enjoyed it too, but until I finally sat down w/headphones and listened closely, it hadn't *really* hit me. It's obvious why there was the term vocal demos connected. There are some SWEET sounds coming out of that man. The lyrics are pretty bad on Object of Desire (put my load in the dryer?!? eeek.) and the Abe Lincoln stuff is kinda corny and out of place, but listening closely to his singing/harmonies, there is some BEAUTIFUL stuff here!

Before the CD came out, I had let a friend listen to a few of the NPGMC tracks and he was also surprised and liked them a lot.

Welcome to the real world. Nice to meet ya.

The casual prince listeners and especially the non Prince listeners LOVE this CD.

The? A bit general. Try "Some."

I put this CD on in my office all the time...
when coworkers come in, after talkin for a lil while, they then take notice to the music playin in the background and always comment "who is this?" ...
when i tell them Prince, they are just so amazed, they never seen or have even thought of Prince in this way.

He's only been doing piano medleys at his shows for what? 20 years?

They all want a copy of this CD.

Well, they missed their chance to win mine on eBay. Cha-ching!

This CD has opened up many more doors for Prince in a whole new type of listener section.

Mental patients?

I work with emotional disturbed teens at a residential facility, and at many times deal with many stressful situations (as u can imagine)

Pretty much, from the sound of it.

The CD paired with the waterfall flow sound was a perfect combination...after about 15 mins. the student was so calm and relaxed...

She was duping you. She figured if she shut up, she could leave & get back to her psychosis.

The next day the same student came to my office and asked me if she could borrow the cd so she could listen to it in her room before bedtime.

And she came back to butter you up for her next discipline problem.

I gladly loaned it to her.
It now helps her relax and drifts her off into a clam nites sleep.

A CD that puts someone to sleep is a good thing? Oh boy.

Sooo...whatever u people r talkin bout when u say this CD wont sell...i dont understand u at all.

Perhaps you need a lesson in common sense?

You live in the Twilight Zone, buddy. This CD might help put kindergarten kids to sleep at naptime, but it has no other use whatsoever.

But dont you think it could have been a WHOLE lot better?. If it is sold through retail , which i doubt will happen , i can't see it selling. It's great background music but doesn't compare to what we have seen him do on the keys in the past. The title track is great but it all sounds very similar and people in the UK that i play it for are not impressed. Big props to Prince for doing it though and it does add to the variety of an already great back catalogue but he could have done so much more with it.

Echo, just remind me again why you come to this site. Does Prince generate your constant negativity or are you just always like that? If his music, or anything to do with him, gives you as little joy as it appears to do then, for your own sake, wouldn't it be better if you buggered off

Blah blah blah. As I understood it, I'm free to dislike an album if I want to. I'm certainly not the only one on this thread who has questioned the merit of an album that puts the listener to sleep.

well, i havent ran into anyone so far who didnt like what they heard

the casual Prince listener only hears what the radio puts out...so it was the pop tunes, or the slow sexy seduce me tunes. I cant see my boss and or the psychiatrists gettin into the likes of that.

They all want a copy of this CD.

Well, they missed their chance to win mine on eBay. Cha-ching!

glad u made some $$...eBay is a wonderful thing.

This CD has opened up many more doors for Prince in a whole new type of listener section.

although i dont always agree with the medical feild and all the doctors, I would not go as far as to classify them as Mental patients...lol

hmmm...sounds like u have some experience there...lol
sorry that u didnt get the proper help...but my students are there to reach out and except the help...Im very proud of them.

The next day the same student came to my office and asked me if she could borrow the cd so she could listen to it in her room before bedtime.

ummm, we deal with discipline problems to a certian extent, but the issues of being sexually abused by father, brother, or uncle, seems to b the bigger issue with my students.

I gladly loaned it to her.
It now helps her relax and drifts her off into a clam nites sleep.

try lighting a candle, opening a window, and putting on the Isley brothers, Teena Marie, or the Prince One nite alone CD, sit back and close ur eyes, and relax...
people who cant experience and appriciate THAT says enough bout THAT indiviual in itself

I just got a chance to listen to this CD during the 4th of July holiday (I've had it since mid-May...sue me).

I don't care for "Arboretum", and "Young and Beautiful" upon first listen.

I'm on the fence about "Pearls Before the Swine".

And "Avalanche" is better live, but I still like it.

It's a mood cd. Everyone is not going to like it hardcore fan or not.

I liked it more the first couple of times I listened to it... I started to dislike it after a few listenings and now I don't listen to it anymore... I tried to give it to a friend of mine who also likes Prince but he didn't like it at all and didn't want it. I decided to keep it and pop it in the player in a few months to see how I feel about it.

I've gotten similar reactions, surprisingly. My girlfriend loathed Prince until she heard this one. Now she's opening up to it & I make her a CD every few weeks.

It's true. Most of the people I've "converted" have been reached through the non-hits/radio jams. Former roomates and girlfriends almost always leave with a greater appreciation for the man & his music.
