My latest Prince fixation started when I ordered & rec'd the Controversy CD. I have had the album since it first came out- that was the album that started this whole Prince obsession for me. So, about 2 weeks ago I decided to order the Purple Rain DVD since my hubby has never seen Purple Rain. I figured that I would order Controversy along with it since it has been ages since I have listened to my album.

Now that I have had it for a week- I cannot stop listening to it....
It is mostly Private Joy that keeps going through my head.
I go to bed singing it, I wake up singing it, I have been exercising to the CD non-stop.
I forgot how good that CD was. Thank god there's a new CD coming out so I can switch my obsession for a while...


Anyways- what song or lyric are you stuck on these day??

There's often a Prince song at the back of my mind. It can change depending on which records I'm listening to, but for the last couple of years I've tended to have a fetish song that comes to mind with astounding regularity. A song have this status -- the number one spot of my Mental Hit Parade -- for a couple of weeks or months.

About four years ago, I remember going through a U Gotta Shake Something phase. It was like the whole year was colored by that song, like I could say to my grandchildren : "That was the year I was obsessed with U Gotta Shake Something".

That song is so damned funky! The lyrics just get me goin', and the beat to die for. I probably play it 5 times in a row before checking the news.

Also, Why Should I Love You by Kate Bush, which has Prince's fingerprints all over it... and reminds me of All My Dreams.
