I still wanna know if the studio version of Fury in any way matches up to the SNL performance of it. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

On "Black Sweat" Prince does not rip off Pharrell or The Neptunes or Justin Timberlake or Usher or Lil Jon or blah blah blah. These artists have -- at least in part -- built their careers by sounding like Prince. "Black Sweat" is simply Prince reclaiming his own sound from them. Peace, David So fucking true. Prince isn't doing Pharrell; he's doing Prince! That's his fucking sound. He's the Godfather of that sound. Black Sweat sounds like "Kiss" by Prince. Period. The Neptunes, Justin Timberlake, Usher, etc all have hits that sound like Prince. Outkast especially.

Article in this weeks Music Week
'Princes return to the live stage at the brits last week is expected to kick off a period of intense activity for the typically low profile artist, having signed with universal in 2005 now with momentum of the brits and the new album there are talks of a summer tour and radio 2 live sessions on the cards. the brits were part of the launch for Prince and now they are looking to move forward who Tim Cockle head of Islands Marketing said they will have firm live plans over the next 2 weeks, the listening sessions were held week last fri at Londons Cuckoo club, Tamars album will be out in the third quarter of the year which Prince produced, Prince has a willingness to promote this release because of Tamar who is basically his muse at the moment she is with him at all times says Cockle. The double A sided single feat Black Sweat, and B,B & L will follow the albums release on 27th march. Prior to the brits people ? Prince being on the show, he answered any doubts said Mr Cockle. Also...Prince is HMVs Artist of the Month from Monday just gone, all back cat cd's very low price and should be a smart display in each store, always a good opp to get spares for the car player etc Pardon me for living', but this is my world too!

Indeed, I'm amazed that people who should know Prince's body of work think that Black Sweat is anything but pure Prince.

Indeed, I'm amazed that people who should know Prince's body of work think that Black Sweat is anything but pure Prince. It's mindboggling. Many of those same people who said they wanted the old style are getting it with Black Sweat and now they're saying he's repeating himself. Damned if you do and damned if you don't. Can't please them all. [Edited 2/28/06 18:54pm] [Edited 2/28/06 18:57pm] I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

It's like the vocals and attitude of Kiss combined with the beat of Bob George. I'll take this over anything by Pharrell. Pharrell's version would've had an annoying rap cameo and been filled with really stupid lyrics. [Edited 2/28/06 18:32pm] The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Remember Pharrell's song "Frontin"? I heard that he did that song for Prince. I'd like to think of Black Sweat as Prince's way of saying, "I did it first and I do it better than yo ass ever will. Trying to give me crap like Frontin, u the one who b Frontin." I'm getting a bit carried away . I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Does anyone know if Prince is playing all the instruments on this album or does he have some band members helping him out?

He does have loads of guest musicians on some tracks, apparently. He hasn't done a "solo" album in decades - the closest thing to that was "Emancipation".

Check out The rainbow Children. 95% of the album is played by Prince apart from the drums, horns (when there are horns) and two bass lines on the cd. Check out Musicology as well. Prince plays everything on it. Check out One Nite alone as well. Check out The Chocolate Invasion (High) as well... Il n'y a pas de sentiment plus exaltant que celui d'appartenir à une nation si diverse, si libre et si douée pour le bonheur.

Though "The Rainbow Children" still has tons of horns and guest vocals, but I yeah I can see it fitting the line of "Prince doing most himself"-definition. "The Truth" and "One Nite Alone" are a bit different case of course, actually they didn't even enter my mind.
