So ANYWAY...

Moonbeam, Aaron and I are driving out to get some last minute grub before the big show tonight. It's about quarter to 11.

The weather here in Metro Detroit is INSANE. It was so foggy this morning, you could only see maybe 100 yards ahead of you. The clouds literally looked like they were on the ground. Then started a light misting that lasted most of the morning. Then it turned to sleet. Then a full-on blizzard this evening. They're calling it "snow squalls", with 40+ MPH winds and up to a foot of snow expected by Superbowl Sunday.

Which leads me to my next point. There's an air of excitement already going on in this town. The traffic's insane, the vibe is insane, the people are insane. It'll be a miracle if they actually pull this whole thing off without a hitch. Leave it to Detroit to get its worst storm of the year on the fucking EVE OF THE SUPERBOWL!!!

Back to my story. So we're going through the McDonald's drivethru, cuz it's close to home and we're in a hurry. We barely make it out of the parking lot and the entire sky turns neon blue!. For a good several seconds. And it was flashing like a rave outside. We honestly couldn't figure out if it was lightning, a UFO, downed power lines, a transformer exploding, god knows...There were hardly any other cars out, but the few we saw all pulled over. The electrical company appeared out of nowhere. A million salt and plow trucks converged in a small area. The power started going out across the street. The bank clock all of a sudden read 79 degrees Fahrenheit...and began counting down in intervals of 2 degrees...77...75...73...71...69...until it finally settled around 32...freezing. By the time we got home, the power kept flickering on and off, but never fully went out.

I'm still not 100% sure what happened out there. And even as it was happening, I didn't know whether to be freaked out, excited or both. But Cheek has clarified that it was indeed Prince in the air tonight, thus explaining my feelings.

It was definitely a funky night in the Renner household.

I still think it was a UFO.

But for the life of me, I can't tell if it was an angry abduction for risking missing the show, eating McDonald's, listening to "Purple Music" on the drive, any number of Prince sins...or if he was just encouraging us to get home in a totally benevolent and loving way.
