Drum track on "The Ladder" What the hell is up with the lagging beat? I love it! How much of that is programmed and how much is played? -------------------------------------------------

Its all programed. Sounds like the other parts are lagging but drums stay the same. Gives the impression of a lagging drum beat

While we're on the subject of the Around The World In A Day album; I noticed you mentioned in a previous post you were somewhat new to all his music. In case noone has pointed this out yet, take a look at the mountains in the background of the ATWIAD cover, they're actually a female torso. | |

Lewis probably like a reverse gate on the drum track , then? Yep...the 'ol reverse gate on the linn drum machine. He liked that a lot back then. Erotic City is probably the best example. NOW that is funk personified. Just listen to the guitar licks and vocals sped up but still timed precisely in 4/4. Damn...gotta go listen 2 that jam now!!!
