Drum track on "The Ladder"

What the hell is up with the lagging beat? I love it! How much of that is programmed and how much is played?

Its all programed. Sounds like the other parts are lagging but drums stay the same. Gives the impression of a lagging drum beat wink

While we're on the subject of the Around The World In A Day album; I noticed you mentioned in a previous post you were somewhat new to all his music. In case noone has pointed this out yet, take a look at the mountains in the background of the ATWIAD cover, they're actually a female torso. wink

Yep...the 'ol reverse gate on the linn drum machine. He liked that a lot back then. Erotic City is probably the best example. NOW that is funk personified. Just listen to the guitar licks and vocals sped up but still timed precisely in 4/4.

Damn...gotta go listen 2 that jam now!!!

DAMN...I have loved Prince for many moons and NEVER realized that the mountains on the cover of ATWIAD was a woman...that is a trip...
