Prince = the Willy Wonka of music?

Just saw Tim Burton's movie Willy Wonka.

I know a lot of people say it reminds them of Michael Jackson, but I was
actually thinking more about Prince as I watched the movie!

Willy Wonka eccentric = Prince eccentric
Creative Genius = Creative Genius
All Kinds of Eclectic Chocolate = All Kinds of Eclectic Music
Recluse at chocolate factory = Recluse at Paisley Park
Invites Lucky Fans to Visit and Taste New Chocolate = Invites Lucky Fans
to Visit and Listen to New Music
Quirky Outrageous Dress Sense = Quirky Outrageous Dress Sense

I could go on. But something about Johnny Depp's performance and clothes
and how he acted all kind of reminded me of the Purple One himself...

Also, note Tim Burton connection (1989's collab on "Batman" with Prince).

How cool would it have been if Prince had been allowed to write all the
oompa-loompa songs for Burton's movie - can just imagine all the weird
fantastical tracks he woulda come up with (a la Batman).

Crikey.....!!!!!

I have THOUGHT this for some time but have NEVER had the guts to say this !

Whenever I hear the song "Starfish & Coffee" I think "Willy Wonka !"

I really agree with your train of thought here, and I LOVE IT !
Shut up already, damn.

-Don't forget their love for the colour purple!
-And the PPs at NPGMC are seeming as devoted to Prince as the Oompa-Loompas are to Willy Wonka! lol

I started a thread like this almost two years ago when I first heard they were remaking the movie!!! Great minds think alike wink

It's true there are a lot of similarities.

Invites Lucky Fans to Visit and Taste New Chocolate = Invites Lucky Fans

I hope he'll copy Willy Wonka and hide 4 golden entry-passes for Paisley Park in his new cd.

If you read the book, the similarities are even more striking. I always thought of Prince when I read the book. Read the book’s description of Willy Wonka and tell me Prince doesn’t fit that character. I was kind of hoping that Prince would play Willy Wonka in the movie, but unfortunately his acting…well, you know.

the earth says hello . . .

oh how i wish that Prince would have done the music for this flick!! it would have been perfect!! Depp was great in it!! "PPPappa"

rumor-mill churned out Prince was in talks about doing music for this film but creative differences never allowed it to pan out. didn't we also hear that Prince walked out of this film at the theatre . . probably pissed about the music! ;O)

it's a shame he didn't do it!!!! :O(

Prince didn't do "Batman" because Tim Burton wanted him to. He did it because:
1. WB made sure he got PAID
2. One of the Big Wigs working on the movie had worked on "Purple Rain"
3. Jack Nicholson is a Prince fan

Burton has repeatedly stated that he felt Prince's music was forced on him.

Woulda been Cool....I met Johnny Depp in NYC at the COFFEESHOP UNION SQUARE...He sat next to me while I was eating and Was Flirting with me...He got up quickly when my Boyfriend came back to the table... He is Really Cute and Small also. Looks Polynesian. Well, that was awhile ago. But,I always dug his work and Prince coulda done something in that movie. I saw this movie 3 times....Love iT.... biggrin
