My Mom bought me Prince!

Oh, the solidarity that disaster brings!

My mother, who has always HATED Prince, (I hid my collection from her as a teenager, natch), went out and bought me "The Hits" and Purple Rain when she thought I'd lost my entire Prince collection in the fire!

eek

The entire family is in shock. Not about the fire so much as my mother!

lol

My mom and I have drove to Nashville, TN and North Little Rock Arkansas to see Prince. We both have the same Prince inspired tattoo on our back.

In 1985, my mom made me a satin and lace purple outfit to wear to the Purple
Rain tour concert, since the ticket said "wear something purple". cool

My mum and dad were quite square and don't know anything about music but they've always supported my love for him.

Whenever he's on the telly or he's mentioned they'll phone me "Prince is gonna be on..!!" or "Did you see Prince on such and such??" or "Prince was mentioned on such and such.."

I think they've grown to secretly love him too !
Shut up already, damn.

i'll bet she had plenty of practice with that sort of thing, making you costumes for school plays and getting notes like that from teachers. sweet!

well see, there's hope for your mom, because that's the way mine used to be back in the 80s! parents mellow with age, sometimes.

and besides, prince's new look is more classic and accessible, which just may be calculated to please the older woman. wink

that's the funny thing - most of my collection is intact! it was downstairs in a cupboard - smokestained, but still mostly playable...

so, given these are presents from mom, i'll probably hang on to them anyway.

lol I do too, occasionally.

My mother actually went to a concert by one of those little star academy people, or whatever you call them in America (I live in France, and can only think of the ubiquitous French version). I can't remember his name - Clay something???

My parents do that now. They record appearances for me, and tune in to see them first and tell me about it later long-distance on the phone. lol

And with my mom, it always starts off with: "he was so beauuuutiful..." smile

I am very conservative. (as is Prince this time of year) I do not think that has anything what so ever to do with liking Prince or not.
