I read somewhere something like 95 % of people believe in God and belong to faiths such as christianity, islam and buddhism. Well here on the Org I sometimes feel like Prince is almost a religion to some posters. Like, I wouldn't be surprised if Zeleira had a Prince room with a neon and a bed in the shape of his ass. Or if SOSGemini had cats named Wendy and Lisa, and BKW made an homemade purple beer. Some fans really do sound like they have a Prince shrine and would gladly take the pulpit to preach the Paisley gospel. I've myself defended his work with a respectable amount of zeal, like any real hardcore Prince fan is suuposed to.

I've come to categorize fans' level of orthodoxy in pretty much this way :

FONDAMENTALIST
Fundamentalist Prince fans are strict followers of Prince. They believe everything he does is great, or nearly so, and will not accept any cruel putdowns of his work, even NPS and N.E.W.S.

DEVOUT
Not as unconditional and rigid as the former, but still take their Prince very seriously. Like they'll get upset if you put down their fave song and even cry a little but they'll just gently shide you.

PRACTISING
This is the kind of fan that loves Prinve's music but it's not like they have to like every single thing he does or orgnote naysayers repeatedly. They always get the new album and attend his concerts when he's in town.

NON-PRACTISING
The person is a fan that believes it's not necessary to get every album and attend the concerts. Content with playing 80's albums from time to time, this fan discards what he/she dislikes without feeling guilty for not listening to it at least 20 times before giving up.

DISAFFECTED
This kind of person still calls himself/herself a Prince fan, but hasn't truly liked anything in some time and is wondering if it's not almost time to stop paying attention. Treats Prince interest as a bad habit and is annoyed by the orthodox fans.

ATHEIST
Has stopped believing in Prince and is on the Org to argue with those who still do. They'll say they loved Prince from 19XX to 19YY but now everything is complete utter crap. They tend to know Prince's life and work better than the fundamentalists, with whom they constantly battle it out.

I wonder what faction you belong to?

Universalists: Those that believe Prince is a voice for the universal consciousness.

I am agnostic but coming to the org and being a follower of him since I was 12 has been the closest I've ever come to a 'religion'.All I can say is I'm glad to be here with all of u, it feels like home.

seriously though, i dont have any wendy and lisa stuff even on my walls..but i do have prince's Crystal Ball and his One Night Alone box set on my wall shelf...

and for those who actually listen to girlbros radio they can attest that i actually play as much prince (the good stuff), seal, neil finn and aimee mann (plays w/ chris bruce and married to mother of pearl co-writer michael penn) as i do wendy and lisa...

i love quality music, period..it just happens that more peeps here like to discuss/discredit wendy and lisa then talk about the latest tracy chapman album..or the beauty that is sade..bjork..or swingoutsister...if peeps created as many threads on those artist as they did w&l then i would be posting responces to those just as much as i do the w&l threads..

now, i know this thread was all tounge and cheek and what not but.....please, not at my expense.
