Prince Albums - Slow Boilers/Coolers?

First of all let me say the org search facility is not working for me at the moment ( as usual ) and I haven't got time to read everything that gets posted here - I've got a life, of sorts, beyond Prince fandom. So if this topic has been done before, forgive me. Any of you old time orgers who have no friends or life to speak of and are prone reply along the lines of "yawn, not this subject again" can, in the words of Nigel Tufnel, lick my love pump.

That said, some albums grow on you over time, for others enjoyment fades. Of which Prince albums has your opinion changed most - good and bad. For me, sign o' the Times, Purple Rain and 1999 just get better with time. But the biggest slow boiler is Parade - thought it was OK but a bit goofy at the time, absolutely love it now.

The biggest cooler? The winner, by a mile, is Emancipation - liked it then, can't listen to it without cringing now.

What about you cats?

Lovesexy grew a lot on me.

Some of his albums/particular tracks on them need some time, maybe with the exception of the first two albums, PR and Dirty Mind. That is the most interesting part in that game.

CUTE baby, SDN, how old?

I totally agree w/you about SOTT, PR and 1999.

1999 is actually my boiler. I didn't like it at first. Now remember, I didn't become a fan till like 12 years ago, and picked up random albums here and there and in no signifigant order. (AND STILL LOOKING FOR A BUNCH.....) So when I got 1999, it probably WAS 1999, and I doubt if I gave it a second listen before tossing it to the side.

NOW, I love it.....and it's the juice to keep me goin'!

My cooler would have to be the symbol album. I loved it for a while, and still do love some of it, but it's fading on me.

The baby isn't mine, as far as I know, just a picture I found on the net. The expression on his ( assuming its a boy ) face appeals to me. The kid also has piercings ( a photoshop job I'm guessing) which give his wide-eyed cuteness a little bit of an edge.

Biggest boiler: Come, definitely. It took me quite a while to get into the album, but eventually it started to click with me.

Biggest cooler: Symbol. Loved it at first, but now I don't listen to more than about 1/4 of the record - There's quite a bit of mediocre material on there.
