Oops! Prince shouldn't have done that. What's the one song that you absolutely think that Prince made a mistake recording? I think that he should've never made "Cinnamon Girl" and anything from "Lovesexy."

You need to have posted 300 times on here before you're allowed comment on anything from Lovesexy. That one takes time to appreciate much like TRC.

Nah, I disagree. I loved Lovesexy at first, then quickly got tired of it. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I think The Rainbow Children was my biggest "WOW" factor of all his albumes. Lovesexy is just a spiritual wetdream. Don't take me wrong there, I love spiritual wetdreams. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

Sorry! Have to disagree. "Lovesexy" was one of Prince's worst efforts. depends upon what you think Prince makes efforts at. He is always been going this way on one album and that way on another, in some sense of the terms. Lovesexy was one of Prince best efforts dealing in the relm of spirituality into his music. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.

Lovesexy is the bomb because he was taking a huge creative risk at the time. However, the general public didnt get it (oh, but they certainly got glam rock at the time), and it failed big-time in the US. In my opinion, i feel that because it flopped, it brought a mystique to the record. Not many artists at the time had the balls to release a one track full length record, as well as an over-the-fu**ing-top tour (which still amazes me every time i watch the Dortmund show).
Lovesexy certainly isnt the most accessable record hes released, but i think its the line between hard-core prince lovers, and mediocre prince fans. It seperates the men from the boys, if you catch my drift. But seriously, how does anyone not like "Alphabet St."? Get in your mouse, and get out of here!

Okay you might not like Lovesexy as an album but does this mean you don't like songs like "Alphabet Street", "When 2 R In Love", "I Wish U Heaven".
I'm just curious because to me these typify great Prince songs. They're raw, edgy and with depth and meaning. Maybe not polished and pretty but heartfelt and honest. The song on this album seem to be about something real. Confusion over your identy and place in the world, trying to get over a relationship, understanding sex and spirituality. For me it's a man trying to work things out in his head and through his music. Shut up already, damn.

Shut up already damn, Lovesexy and Cinnamon Girl Rock, TRC no so rock. Biggest mistake. Releasing the esoterically brilliant, if I was ur girlfriend to a shocked and diffident record buying public fed a diet of Madonna, Bon Jovi and lisa lisa and cult jam. 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

I think U really had 2 be there 2 understand why it was such a trip!! I can understand if U discover the album 10 years latter U don't know what the fuss is all about, but the album sounds better than anything be4,what a sound!! And once again;the album did verry well in Europe, only PR sold more. (Afterward I think only D&P also sold more) Love4oneanother

So with Lovesexy, you had to be there to understand the album's magic. Hmm...Shouldn't a truly great album be timeless? I mean, I was born in 1985, and yet when I hear albums like Purple Rain and Dirty Mind, I think they're absolutely amazing. I'm just saying, I've heard this defense of Lovesexy countless times and it sounds like a weak excuse for why some simply don't like the album. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

ok,I just think the album had more impact at the time, the production and sound
just blew me away!and the way he played his hits on the tour was just great, I have those songs on CD and I still listen 2 it frequently. This was the energetic Prince Sure,if we're talking about timeless albums,SOTT and PR will do better. But,Livesexy is still better than SOTT-live!! Love4oneanother

I'm just saying, I've heard this defense of Lovesexy countless times and it sounds like a weak excuse for why some simply don't like the album. It IS a weak excuse... a VERY WEAK excuse. I was there in '88 purchasing this album on the day of release. I was present for his concert appearance in Cincinnati, Ohio. I think the concert was great and LoveSexy is a rather pleasant record (that was an interesting turn for Prince at the time), but it most certainly has it's flaws. The idea that you "had to be there" is apparently a really big flaw, if true, because great albums are, indeed, timeless. ...and the whole LoveSexy period really wasn't that great even if you were there. The Alphabet St. video just looked entirely amateur, like it had been pieced together at the 11th hour. Prince's style of dress was totally out of left field, as if God came down and told him everyone must dress like a highway billboard with words and slogans all over themselves. The whole 'one track' CD wasn't clever, it was just an annoying display of Prince's power (though quickly diminishing) at WB. ...and the list goes on... Otoh, as a whole, I do like the album better than PR or DM but those albums aren't high on my list anyway.

Hmm, I see LoveSexy positioning Prince as the Zelda Rubinstein of Funk saying "Come into the light, all are welcome. All are welcome." TRC reduces him to that whimsical voice in the Charlie Brown specials - "NO DOGS ALLOWED."

U're comments about Lovesexy? I think U must have heard the Vince Gill or Right Said Fred's "LOVESEXY" album. U obviously grabbed the wrong one. Prince's was released in 1988. He's butt naked on the cover being eating by a flower. Nothing bad on that version. Worse released song. "Solo"

I love the songs on LoveSexy but that one track gimmick was a horrible marketing decision. By virtue of that one dumb move, one of his best songs ever Anastesia got lost. People like to be able to pick and choose which cuts on an album they want to hear. Dont' force me to listen to the whole darn thing! Artistic freedom is one thing and consumer freedom is another...
