I love this album to death. I honestly can't think of anything negative about it. A perfect album IMO.

The truly best song of this album was relegated to a B-side and you all know that She's Always In My Hair is the best song. Hello and Girl are two other songs that could have easily been on the album. I definetly took off The Ladder and put those songs on the album somewhere.

first off... I love the full album
but if I had to pick a least favorite
it would be "Condition Of The Heart"

favorite: "Tamborine" or "Raspberry Beret"
"be who you are and say what you feel
because those who mind don't matter
and those who matter don't mind."

Best: Pop Life, hands down. Great lyrics and music. Though, back when I first heard it in 1985, the "crowd" noise interruption almost ruined the song for me. It grew in me with repeated listening enough to make it one of my top 10 Prince songs of all time.

Worst: ATWIAD. It was a huge let down since it made it obvious back in '85 that this record was no Purple Rain sequel. Paisley Park didn't help to "pick-up" the album "flow" either.

I always skip Paisley Park and sometimes I'm not in the mood for Temptation. But I love the rest of the songs on this album.

I love this album too. I bought it back in 85 when it came out. I honetly can say I liked Raspberry Beret, Paisley Park, and Pop Life and that was it at the time. I thought it was pretentious and self-absorbed. But man did it grow on me. Its now one of my favorite albums by the guy. Such a cool production and vibe.

Best for me at the moment:
The Ladder
Tambourine
Paisley Park
Title track

I actually have a slightly different version of the title track that is longer and has more acoustic guitar up front...I LOVE this version. It made me appreciate the released version more.

I never cared for The Ladder. It just seems like a poor Purple Rain re-write. Every other track on that album is aces though, including the title track which grew on me a lot just in the past couple of years. The best tracks are Condition of the Heart, Raspberry Beret, Tambourine, and Temptation. And yes, the b sides to this album were fantastic, with She's Always in my Hair being one of his best songs ever.

Best="Paisley Park", "Condition of the heart"
Worst="America", it is good, but i'm a communist, it's a little offensive
to us communists.
Overall, one of his best albums, in my o-pinn.

I was mmmmm 'dating' a girl who's dad was a DJ and went to listen to a promo copy days before it was released. I felt very lucky. Tamborine, Paisley Park and Condition of the heart have been my favs and the Ladder has been my bummer. An empty purple rain re tread.
Temptation strained, but the guitar work is good.

UGH! This is one of my fav albums.....EVER!

The only song I dislike is Temptation. So, that's my worst.
I seriously LOVE every other song on the album! This album WILL be remembered when Prince is gone. And it WILL be hailed the Prince's DARK SIDE OF THE MOON or something.

It took me a while to appreciate Condition of the Heart, since I was like 16 when I got this album, and it was a bit much to swallow. But now at 27 ripe years of age, I LOVE IT! Although for my best I have to go with Paisley Park.

Can I just share w/ya'll that when I bought this album, I stayed home from school "sick" the next day so I could listen to it over and over and become better aquainted. At that time I was also reading James and the Giant Peach. So imagine listening to ATWIAD and reading this book all day long.....I suggest you try it.....you won't need the help of MARGARITA OR ECSTASY, that's fo' sho'!
