The album is where he laid down his manifesto (the monotne speech about vblack, white, nude). Sex god, slow song freak, sexuality ribald p.o.v., ambiguity, and rock-funk.
His deepest beat is with the title song. Its hypnoic and pulls and pushes you. Its awesome! | |

I love this album so much.
It was the one that I really thought WOW !! It was the first time I'd ever heard a pop star write such brilliant thought inspiring lyrics tohad so many some great pop beats ! I think that's when Prince really became my hero. I realised he had so many sides to his personality that he wanted to explore and work out. The album cover alone hypnotised me. The way the media uses shock headlines and juxtaposes them together. I thought "Damn...this man isn't just a pretty face singing about love!!" Shut up already, damn. | |

Yes, this is the album that sent me into a frenzy about Prince. Had to know everything about him and see him as much as possible. This is when I lost interest in Michael Jackson. I snuck my aunt's Dirty Mind album out of curiosity to check him out, long after it had been released. Then Controversy came out, had to have it immediately and then there was the tour, my first. Yes, this is when he hooked me. | |

This tour was wear he went high-rent. He had a budget and the light designers (Bennett!) came ot play. The venetian blinds set up. Great. | |
