Prince as Anti-Semite I just read a post from someone making the accusation that Prince is anti-semtic -- or at least made some anti-semetic comments in his TRC album. The very song that he/she accused him of saying this anit-semtic remark on contains a speach from MLK that would discount any anti-semitism. Therefore, obviously, either prince is a complete idiot to put the "I have a dream that black, white, jew, gentile will walk hand in hand" speech in his song when he doesn't like jews, or he is simply NOT an anti-semite. I believe the latter.
by the way, when is our new NPGMC CD coming out? I've wasted $100, even w/ four CD's -- that still only comes out to $60 (15/cd) that I would've bought. Its not like we get free tickets or anything, they were $125 a pop for members! anyways, thats another topic.

The question I would ask is: Can Prince not be anti-semitic and still be a Jehovas Witness? We may assume that Prince doesn't hate Jews because he hasn't been a racist, and we would think that him being a member of a minority might make him less likely to hate other minorities. If a person belongs to a puritanical faction of Christianity, the chances that he dislikes the Jews is pretty strong. Many Christians, especially fundimentalists hate Jews. Some Black Muslims also retain a hatred of Jews. We cannot believe that just because Prince is a minority and put MLK on his record that he isn't anti-semitic. Espcially when what he said on the CD can be interpreted that way. I don't believe that he is, I think those who think he is are over-reacting, but then again those who react to them need to find better reasons. For me it's only my gut that tells me that Prince doesn't buy all the crap his religion teaches, but I could be wrong.

The fact that he buys into religion at all would surely indicate that he is capable of being racist/fascist... I mean, he's already had digs at poor people and overwieght people, so he aint a million miles away from further nastiness!

yeah that's true, he doesn't seem to like the poor and the fat very much. He tends to have problems with women, especially lesbians.

The simple fact that he uses a quote from Dr. King does not make it clear that he believes or understands in what he says. Throughout that album there are insults thrown at Jews, whites & others. A far cry from the all-inclusive Prince of old.
