Well, it's moot because I can't remember why I got mad and it was probably over something stupid anyway, so here's the secret to a happy marriage, at least from the guy side. Say, "I'm sorry" whenever she gets mad. Say it and mean it whether it's your fault or not. It only took me seven years to learn that I'd never win an argument; I'd never outlast her on the silent treatment; and I'd ALWAYS have to be the first to apologize. Once I started doing that (twelve years ago), you can count the number of hours we've spent mad at each other on one hand. It isn't easy for a guy to swallow his pride and apologize, especially if he didn't do something worth getting mad over, but I guess this is what they mean when they say a marriage takes hard work. | |
