Think about it, if Prince had all the tracks planned out for the next CD, before releasing 'Te Amo Corazon', and lets say the album originally had a 'Te Amo' flavor to it. Well, the single does'nt appear to be getting alot of attention. With his vault of music, and his ability to turn out new songs faster than it takes me to eat my breakfast, he could totally change the track list from now to spring.
Who knows for sure. We'll probably never know. I like the single, because I admire Prince, but the song does'nt hit me the way other songs have. You know that feeling, when a song revs you up, and you look forward to getting out of work, and blasting it in your car. Everyone has different taste, and I'm happy for those that are getting that great feeling from this song. I'm sure there will be some cuts off '3121' that'll get me, as is the case for most of his albums. You have a good point, here. He could be doing like he did with his earlier music, and taking it to the public a bit at a time, then sitting back and observing. If we like, good, if not time to go back to the studio. But I do wish that people would stop looking for a sequel to any of his 80s hits. He doesnt' do 'em like that anymore, in case ya'll ain't guessed. Besides, I like the single.

i truly hope that he sees the cold shoulder we've given this song, drop it from the album and drop something that blows us away....
ummm, has he gotten the cold shoulder? I have heard just as many good comments as bad about the song. And who are you that he would take the song off the album and replace it with something that would "blow your mind". I hate to be the one to bring this up, but it's like Jesus second coming. If he ever does come back, no one is going to believe it, because they will be looking for what they expect to see, not what actually is. Prince music today is all about rolling with what he does today, not constantly listening to older stuff and saying, "Wasn't he better way back when?" It doesn't make sense to do this.

I've been wondering the exact same thing. Andy is a four letter word.

yeah, he was very quick to point out that the album doesn't sound like Te Amo Corazon. It was almost as if he was hoping to be asked a question that would allow him to divulge that information. And I can't help but think that his inclination to do so was born, in large part, of the overwhelmingly negative reaction to the song by fans.

I bet he'll have another single out before the album is released and I bet it will be more like what we expect.

Is he testing Universal and Selma Hayek ?? They spent alot of money on this. You truly believe they don't want it to sell, and it's only a test??? A test of what...

How long before the press conference did we get to hear the single? Did he have time at all to look at any reaction it got? Besides that it'd be a very unlikey thing for Prince to do anyway.

P chose 2 premiere "the 1st audiovisual" because he genuinely digs the tune, n he felt the potential waves the video could make. It was NEVER ntended 2 b "the 1st single". THAT is coming later.

It doesn't make sense to do this. yeah, ok... if you think that the fans on this site are excited about this song, then i have a bridge to sell you. the response is overwhelmingly negative and downright hateful... the favorable responses are mildly positive at best, with people thinking the song is ok or good, not great... can you really see yourself listening to this song in 10 years from now? im thrilled for you if you do, but not me. and you ask who am I that he would take the song off the record? just a die hard fan that has stuck by him for over 20 years, purchased everything he has ever put out, seen every tour, been constantly inspired by his brilliance and lately constantly let down by how average his music has become. im not looking for him to be the prince of the 80's, youre misinformed. what i do want to see is an artist that challenges himself and his audience, not desperately seek airplay on lite-FM. does any of that give me the right to dictate what prince does or doesnt do? of course not, but dont tell me that i dont have the right to hate on this song or that my frustration with him is unwarranted.

matter of fact, I do see myself listening to this song 10 years from now. but dont tell me that i dont have the right to hate on this song or that my frustration with him is unwarranted.[/quote] That's just it - any frustration you have is on you. You don't have to dislike the choice in first single any more than I have to like it. And for the record, I think this of ANYONE on this list who doesn't like the new music.

A long time ago a nonPrince fan told me, "If Prince was not a smart business man he would not be as successful," She simply did not believe some of the later output was good at all. Obviously, I knew this person did not know about much of the work. Still I do think about those words time to time.
Maybe sometimes we become better off, business/money wise and lose the drive a bit. I know I feel that way somedays as I become older and the money grows, to the point where in years I don't have to work. And also we just simply get older! Something to think about. Some of you want the Prince from 84-88 but he can no longer be. Fun to chat about but I hope you all think about your own reality and have a good payoff at the end of the day, that your good business people also!
