I'm a huge fan of both of these artist and I'm curious about how they feel about each others work. Have they ever spoke about one another in interviews ?

There names should not be mentioned in the same breath. Prince is so superior to David Bowie it's not worth mentioning.

Now what I prefer in David Bowie is that he he has constantly taken more risks musically speaking than prince throughout his career even if there have been a few compromises here and there.

Oh yes he has had. I have seen him 12 times in concert and I'm telling ya some of his tours have been very weak others have been fantastic. The Glass Spider Tour was so crap. His Tin Machine thingy was horrible as well. I have seen him embarassing all his fans while playing the saxophone on stage and once taking a guitar solo with Tin Machine.
David Bowie has had his "downs" as well.
And by the way David Bowie had done Greatest hits tours as well and still plays 85% of old titles in concert.

I must admit I've never heard Prince or Bowie ever mention each other. Though
Bowie did put a Prince reference in his track 'Zeroes' from the 'Never Let Me
Down' album back in '87.

Prince said spoke about Bowie in an interview when he was talking about his own masters (he said that he wanted to be like Bowie and Elton John who owned theres).

You remember the time...it was when Prince was getting paid shit loads of money to do his job and fulfill a contract that he had signed willingly but suddenly woke up one day and thought it wasnt fair.

I know he hardly ever spoke about it and dint like to make a fuss but it was a little period in his life that certainly didnt mark the start of the end for him

lets talk about the similarities between DIAMOND DOGS and THE RAINBOW CHILDREN.

think about the storyline, the voice who starts to tell the story, and even the end: "brobrobrobrobrobrobro..." and "oneoneoneoneoneone...."

as soon as i heard that "one one" ending, it started me thinking. i read bowie's was an accident which he decided to keep (i like the way it adds reverb as the repeats go on)

Is it only me - i rememeber distinctly i've read somewhere of a studio collaboration between the two. Probably a fake rumor, but appetizing none the less.

Bowie himself did mention prince in interview though i cant think when...Of course the P reference in Zeroes is valid.

IMHO Both artists are of the same legend-type caliber.
Personally i prefer prince but sometimes i wish he were a nicer, more down to earth dude like bowie.

I read a bowie interview where he talked about liking prince back in 1988 ( I think he specifically mentioned the song Little Red Corvette, boring , I know). It was an interview in which Bowie said he had no clue as to what made a hit single, he just put them out.

Bowie mentioned loving P's early work in an Rolling Stone interview. Remember reading an account of Prince attending a Bowie show during 80's, and letting Bowie's crew preview "Sign o the Times" the movie. I'm sure if Prince likes Bowie's work he may not even tell at this point. As for Bowie, the guy is down to earth and cool as hell.

I like the work from Bowie and Prince. Bowie takes me to darker places and Prince makes me knock on neighbors doors..No no no haha.. Bowie did have some time during the 80's when he became pop and started chasing the next hit song, some good songs came out of it and some rather weak. Then Bowie became experimental and a lot less giving a damn in the 90's til now(which his core fans from what I see love). A lot of the new stuff from Prince I like, but sometimes I have to ask WHAT??? I hope Prince is able to move away from his hits and become experimental if he wishes but I'm sure some poopy heads will worry about airplay..I'm sure he will polish the hell out of his music. Prince really is the best musician but sometimes it seems like he is swinging for a hit and airplay and doesn't get. Sometimes it seems like he is trying to be too perfect. Maybe thats why we love the live shit from Prince, cause its on the fly almost perfect but a little more raw that cd. Bowie is more rocknroll like the Stones. Prince can polish a turd til it sounds good which is impressive, but a turd is still a turd at the end of the day.
