I LOVE IT SO MUCH..The 12" is the BEST..... I LOVE when Nasty Boy used to do it live at the PURPLE RAIN CONCERTS.....WAS SOOO GREAT.....

BTW, I only know the version from the Hits Set (and the outtake one). Is there a longer version than this one?

It was the Prince song that I got into the most trouble for listening to. I actually think Prince owes me a cassette player to compensate for all the ones I had confiscated because of "Irresistible Bitch"!

It's a fun song but kind of silly. Not one of his better songs.

I put it up there with "Illusion, Pimp, and Cliterous".

Well, as an actual song of course, it's not special. Chord changes and all that. But that's not what it's trying to be anyway. It's just a cool, tight little jam with attitude.

Irresistible Bitch is the perfect Prince song. From the first seconds to the memorable fade, there is not one note that doesn't belong there. It's like a fine racetrack horse, all muscles and no fat. Every instrument is played with the utmost conviction, especially the drums and the bass. Not too many know about it outside the fan community because it was a b side and of course the word "bitch" made it less than marketable at the time it was released, but to me this is not only a good song but a classic recording that far more people should know.

So... I like it!

Wendy and Lisa's vocals are to die for on this track. Too funky.

Originally intented for The Time, I'm glad P kept this one for himself. Just like Lady Cab Driver, his drumming and bass playing is high up in the mix which really gives it that bang. Used to wear this out when it first hit. I especially dig the beginning with the little backwards vocal track over the drumsticks.

Could you say anything on the bass playing? It's similar in style to Cloreen Bacon Skin, IIRC. A very distinctive way of playing, IMO. Does he slap? I can't really make it out.

Is this the first example of Prince "rapping?" (I know it's not rap in the traditional sense, but it's almost there)


Anyway, great little underappreciated song. Would be good to hear this in nightclubs as I think it would sound relevant next to a lot of today's retro sounding music.

Referring to Hip Hop, Prince once mentioned that he did it as early as 1982 with Irresistible Bitch. So I guess it kind of is the prototype for his rapping. Although I think he wouldn't call it rapping anyway.

The 12 Inch is the same version as the 45, unless there is an extended version on an import somewhere that I don't know about.
