Is Paisley Park cool? Who's been there? I've never been to PP and always wondered if it is as sterile as it looks. I realize it was built in late 80's, but reminds me a bit of a prison or fortress.
Very tight and defined, kinda like his music. Which I Love. It has the appearance of control. So, I guess the creative flavor of the building has to be on the inside. I've seen pictures of the inside but reality is not in pictures, you miss the vibe and energy.

Beyond that, I'd say that those who wax lyrical about its pacific nature speak at least as much about themselves as the building. . ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

It just doesn't look that inviting from the outside. That's why I inquired about the inside. Been to Graceland a long time ago. Looks somewhat inviting on the outside, but wow the inside was definitely his personal taste. Architecture is an interest of mine. By the way, aren't all opinions (especially about art, music, buildings, etc.) a reflection of the self. Including yours of me. [Edited 12/28/05 14:40pm]

I think it looked a bit sterile before they renovated and redecorated it in 1996. I saw them repainting the hallway (atrium) in 1996 and then later when it was finished.
I think it´s a cosy place on the inside. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

yeah, it is tackily decorated for the most part, but it's still a fun place to go/be. you just gotta be wary of the raggedy-assed lock on the door of the first stall in the ladies' room. tacky-assed fake flowers in the bathroom edit [Edited 12/28/05 15:29pm]

It was pretty cool, at least to me when I went in 1995. I was caught up in "just being there mode", so I might be a little bias. I wasn't expecting Flyte Tyme style (Jam and Lewis place is/was off the hook!), so PP was cool. “When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a Communist.” Brazilian bishop Dom Hélder Câmara

I was there during the 1st celebration. We were the last group of the day and we got an extended tour that was videotaped 2 be shown before Prince's concert at the end of the week. My highlight was when we were shown his dance sudio which had a basketball hoop and 3 point line painted on the floor. I took a 3 pointer... and air-balled it! Which was shown before the concert!
