prince's diet affect his hip? or did he fall/slip? comparisons among countries show that hip fracture rates are higher where people eat calcium-rich diets. http://vegweb.com/articles/39.shtml what do you think? we need not worry, huh?
It is possible that people fall more in some cultures than in others. his vitamin D must be considerably low since he's known to not go out in the sun regularly [Edited 12/28/05 0:59am]

His hip problems could be related to a lot of things, I think more so it is caused by wearing heels and overuse by doing splits, kicks, jumping off speakers, sexual activites. "Shut Up, Already. DAMMM!!!!!!!"

Not knowing what his hip problems are, if he indeed has any, my guess is some sort of degenerative arthritis. Just because you eat calcium does not gaurantee bone health or joint health. It depends on the type of calcium you ingest. Among many other tangables. "Hide the Bone"

my mother worked in the orthopedic department of a clinic/hospital for close to 20 years. so i'm relatively familiar with all this hip replacement stuff, and related issues.
that said, the fact is merely *wearing* high heels throws a person's body totally out of alignment, and puts tremendous stress and wear and tear on the hip joints and back. many, many years of vigorous DANCING would certainly be even more damaging. no matter how much vitamin this or vitamin that or calcium a person would ingest, if they were wearing the heels AND doing the dancing that Prince has done for the past multiple decades, will not prevent degenerative damage caused by stress on the joints caused by wearing high heels. so no, i don't believe Prince's alleged hip problemsare because he didn't eat enough calcium or Vit D, or because he didn't go out in the sun enough.

I am only 35, but have joint problems and feet problems due to wearing heels and dancing since the tender age of 5. I have had surgery on my feet, but nothing on the joints. I am hoping to delay that one. As a result, I can't dance near as well as I did a few years back
