Rolling Stone had Prince's AVEDON Purple Rain Pose and then Murphy's Pose which is HYSTERICAL. Eddie did say he was a Prince Groupie and even attended the PURPLE RAIN PREMIERE Party.Can somebody post the pictures for fans? I can't get to them now.

what about the rumor that Murphy wanted to make a Buckwheat movie called Purple Wheat, but Prince said he couldn't do it?

I recall hearing about Eddie putting on Prince's hat and dancing with him on stage one night during the Purple Rain tour.

when Eddie Murphy's star first started to rise, he did an interview with Rolling Stone magazine. The reporter followed Eddie around, and wrote about it.
Eddie is driving in Manhattan, and pops a cassette into the car player..and Prince music starts playing. Eddie tells the reporter.."Listen to this shit..this guy is fucking nasty!!" It was whenever 1999 came out. I believe the song playing was Little Red Corvette. Go to your library and see if you can find the Rolling Stone issue archived. I promise you its there

I listened to an interview bout 2 days ago, prince said he kicked eddie AND his brother in a game of basketball and then got 'em pancakes afterwards, he said 'I figured that was the least I could do', it was so cold, perhaps you can download the interviw online, it's pretty new, something with Skip Murphy and Company, google it, enjoy

Eddie Murphy filled in as a guest VJ on MTV back in 1984. He played a lot of his favorite videos and when he played "Little Red Corvette", he said he loved Prince.

Also, when Eddie made his "Love's Alright" album in the early 1990s, the title track sounds very much like Prince, from the music to the voice.

Prince was invited to Eddie's wedding in '93. That is not hearsay

The comments about Ed wanting to switch places with Prince comes from a interview Eddie did in Rolling Stone back in 83.

Ed was even at the L.A. show during the Musicology Tour.

go back and look at the footage of the Purple Rain premiere. Eddie was there, and he was interviewed. He talked of being a huge Prince fan.
