C-note

Can anybody tell me more about C-note(The album) Are there many vocals on those songs?

Only "Empty Room" has lyrics and singing...the other four tracks are instrumentals (though he does say "Tokyo" several times on that track). smile

"It" wasn't released at all.
A few days after Xpectation was uploaded members received a link to a download of ONE of the CNOTE tracks, apparently based on their location. Word got round that there were 5 different tracks and clever folks noticed that if you changed the final word in the link to the name of the track you could download them all. All the tracks also quickly found their way onto P2P networks.
It was later that the name CNOTE was given, based on the first letter of each track's "name" and the theory that this was a response to complaints of the club not fulfilling it's promise of 4 new albums for the members who paid $100 (or c-note).

That's true - but just to add, it was eventually released as a download which can be obtained throught the NPGMC Musicology store.

and may i just add that it is a wonderful "album" indeed.
i like it more than both Xpecation and N.E.W.S.

the songs are all of amazing quality and particularly the
double suite "Osaka/Tokyo" is among the best things he's
done for a long long time.

Empty Room is one of his best tracks and yet i would not
mind it being omitted from this album and being replaced
with one more instrumental track -that's how good those
instrumental cuts on this album are.

Yes, I love those two as well! You just have to dig a little deeper and you can still find such beautiful little pieces from him.
Are there any overdubs? If so, they're working perfectly.

It's WAAAAAY better than SNOOZE. It's what SNOOZE should have been.

IMO C-Note was the best instrumentals from Prince since the Madhouse days. Knocks Xpectation/NEWS for six! If you haven't got it, get it!
