The Typhoon from 1991-1992 was just right.

Yup, I think Prince looked just about perfect during the D&P and prince album era.

Prince sporting the Purple Rain jheri curls would be scary because he still looks young, just let him wear the purple trenchcoat and there you go, he would look like it´s 1984 again but WE wouldn´t. lol

As long as it´s not too unnatural it´s all cool.

In no way were those "jheri curls"...it's a big difference from the actual press and roll look he had then. lol

Speaking of the Typhoon, how long do you think it took to make it look the way it did?

Several hours and a bunch of gel and haircurlers? It's puzzling.

hmmm

I could easily do that. Sit Prince in front of a fan and throw gel through it. Then you just smooth his edges down, design them however he likes....soo easy giggle

LOVE him in long hair. GB was the best hair ever...Rave was a close second.

The absolute worst hair in my opinion was in the era he had the sides shaved, when he was wring Slave on his cheek. Ugh.

Not a big fan of the Typhoon era with the fingerwaves down to the jawbone. disbelief Or the GB/Batman era...too Jesus-y.

In general, I like short hair on guys, but I do like his Prince & Lovesexy locks.

My favs are Parade/UTCM and the Versace/Goldera (sans SLAVE) (the latter probably due to the fact that I, myself, would rock that hairstyle & make up...which I guess is kind of weird. I don't know, there's just something I dig about thick black eyeliner with the little extension on the outer corner love ...but I digress...)
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

clapping I cringe everytime somebody incorrectly calls that style a Jheri Curl. eek Makes me wonder what some people think Jheri curls were.

Michael Jackson had a Jheri Curl. Prince (thank the Lord and pass the cheese) never got caught up in that style.

If you want to get technical about it back when prince started perming his hair it was the style. And as for right now prince is an old man so I guess it's still works for him. Besides plenty of black men press their hair and I don't see anybody calling them out on it (see James Brown, a truck load of rappers, Al Sharpton).

And finally when prince did grow his hair out for a nano second during the japanese leg of the tour he did a couple years back people on this very board dogged him out and said it looked like he had on a furry hat, etc., etc.

SOSG please don't start with me. I'm not in the mood.
