Madonna chooses When Doves Cry as her lifechanging song

Just thought I'd let you maniac vultures know Madge just picked When Doves Cry as her alltime lifechanging track on Radio 1 where she's currently the guest host with bat-faced culture 'ho Jo Whiley. She muttered something about not wanting to take her shades off, then spoke about how she first heard Doves listening to her walkman while cycling home to her new NY flat when she 'was just realising what the world may have in store for her'. They played the full version, a few callers sent emails to say 'Wow, Madonna's a Prince fan, it doesn;t get any better' and 'That song send chills up my spine. Fantastic choice, Madonna'. Wiley then inquired about her about meeting Prince, she said he was very shy, it took two days to bond, he's very strange, but called him and MJ geniuses despite both being 'socially inadequate', and that was that. Now it's a bunch of over-excited gay men talking to her on the phone asking her about obscure b-sides.

I remember a Rolling Stone article from 1998 where she said that "When Doves Cry" is one of her favorite songs.

Damn, you're acting like she beat up your mama. It's not like we don't know that Prince isn't always at ease socially. Still, she could have chose her words more wisely. "Socially awkward" might have been a better way to put it.

Prince and Michael ARE socially inadequite. It's painfully obvious. But good on her that even after all these years of sublte cattiness between Prince and Madonna, that she still admits straightforwardly to this WDC song appreciation publicly.

Over there we still are getting riddles and insecurtities.

Actually Pepper7...Madonna has written 90% of her work and if she didn't take 100% credit, she co-wrote most of all her songs.

Madonna doesn't let ppl write all her songs baby! Do your research!
Of course during the 1980's Everyone who met PRINCE said he was really shy and didn't talk much!

Madonna doesn't know Prince from adam and eve (now-a-days) because the two don't communicate anymore, its been nearly 15 years now.

Yeah fair enough but what is the point in calling someone "socially inadequate" or whatever she said.

I'm not really annoyed at Madonna but a lot of people in the media talk about Prince or other celebrites in this way. Like they're this or that...

I just find it quite negative.

She's the one that passed the comment. If like you say she doesn't really know him then why make the comment at all?

Whenever I read about him, now, then, or whenever he is most often referred to as the Purple Eccentric, quirky, weird, shy, reclusive, etc....

I just think what is the point in saying this about somebody. It makes him sound like a freak.

Plus it's not like Madonna is so open You don't see her down the local supermarket or mising with the rest of the non-showbiz world.

The finger is always pointed at Prince or Michael Jackson in this way.
Shut up already, damn.

Also Madonna's music sounds too generic for her to have written it.

I'm really not sure how much imput she has had.

You never hear people say 'Oh wow listen to this great song Madonna has written'.

I can't remember her ever being celebrated for her song writing skills like Prince.

I wonder if people are on her website discussing the lyrics of "Material Girl".

Are you one of those fluffy bunny people that thinks every comment should be full of sunshine and light?

Let's face it, Madonna was right. There are decades worth of stories about how oddly Prince has behaved around others.

Whenever I read about him, now, then, or whenever he is most often referred to as the Purple Eccentric, quirky, weird, shy, reclusive, etc....

I just think what is the point in saying this about somebody. It makes him sound like a freak.

Quirky, shy, and reclusive are pretty good descriptors for Prince, overall.

Plus it's not like Madonna is so open You don't see her down the local supermarket or mising with the rest of the non-showbiz world.

Actually, she does go down to her husband's local pub in England and it's full of 'non-showbiz' people...

The finger is always pointed at Prince or Michael Jackson in this way.

...and it's not unfounded at all.

Please listen to the interview before you spout off on what Madonna allegedly said. Such a waste of energy to get all bent outta shape about something you didn't even actually listen to. She DID NOT even say anything negative about him at all...quite the opposite!!!
She called him a genius and prolific. The interviewer is who used the word inept and she just laughed.

Yep fair enough. If she didn't say it.

Not sure why someone said she did but oh well I can't be bothered to argue.

Plus my point was that I don't think it benefits anyone to call them shy, socially inadequate etc...

And there people do talk about Prince in this way.

I'm not saying he isn't quiet or shy or whatever but it's up to him.

That and the fact that he's always called pint sized.

You wouldn't call someone big nose or four eyes.
