Opionions varry. I think that "honor" would go to one of the albumes he "did" before Purple Rain.
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.

its a very enjoyable album , and for my money a better listen than everything he's released since 2000 . I also note people who are trashing the album saying
" it was contract filler " ," even Prince hated it " etc etc , you dont get bonus points in paisley heaven for siding with Prince and disliking his so-called contract-filler albums you know , make up your own minds and don't follow the spin .

But what if I genuinely don't like the album and think it's a steaming pile of shit? ...What then? Have I got to BEG? Why do people always have to engage in these pointless pissing contests? Nobody's opinion is more important than anybody elses on this or any other site - it's all relative.

For the record, (not that it matters) I consider it the weakest album in his catalogue, and I like all of three tracks on it - three tracks does not an album make in my book. I find the content decidedly lacking - particularly lyrically, with it's only main redeemable feature being that you can hold it up and go 'Oh, and this one is what it sounds like when he records an album in three days flat...He's just SOOOO clever.' rolleyes

Audio dynamic (or lack thereof), aside, my gripe with it was that I felt used as a pawn in the sorry power-struggle that was the WB debacle. Personally, I didn't think he was right to do that, it showed poor judgement on his part, and showed to me how little he thought of his fan base at the time.

The guy's a genius that much is true, but he's not a God, and he's not perfect - and I think this is a blemish on his career - but that's just MY thoughts on the matter...tell me, what do YOU think? Because the world REALLY wants to know. lol

Now all y'all feel free to piss and moan about my post all you want - but please kiddies, remember it's just an opinion, mmmmk? bored

If you genuinely dont like it thats fine , I'm referring to people who say they dont like it then justify it by saying e.g its contract filler , Prince doesnt want us to like it . The 1-2-3 blast of Chaos and disorder , I like it there and Dinner with delores is a great opener to the album , and the rest is fine in my book , I'd take it over Snoozicology any day of the week.

Well it WAS contract filler. P ONLY did the mandatory WB requirements for pubbing the album. Case in point, he publicized the hell out of Emancipation that very same year and didn't perform ONE SONG off C&D on the "tour" exalting his new found freedom. So what does THAT tell you?

fuck that shit--even if ol' boy didn't say/admit it was contract filler, people (me included) would say it is indeed was a way to hurry it up and get outta there, regardless. my mind was already made up before the fact.

so--that. shit. was. contract. filler. that, and it was absolute crud. death

I really like this album as well. It´s not the best one, but certainly one of the best ones.

I'm reading the track listing...is this "Right the Wrong" song any good? I wish I wouldn't have pawned my CD player.

"Dinner with Delores"...man that must be a hard song to listen to. I mean nothing really rhymes with Delores. Except maybe brontosaurus but no one would use that in a song, would they?

- Never paid attention to the lyrics...but the melody is nice and the arrangements/production are better than most things he did from 97-2000

Like any Prince album....some good moments, some embarassing moments...
I liked his approach on raw rock, like on "I like it there"...but "Right the wrong" and "Dig u better dead" suck. "I will" is a beautiful melody ballad.

The problem is that he was getting free of WB...so, he wasn´t so careful about what he was putting on his albums. But both Chaos and The Vault (one of my personal favorites) have some very nice moments
