I can probably guess THAT'S the reason for the move!!! that IS the reason...logistical problems, my ass...who do they think they're FOOLING? lol This happens all the time in Boston. Moving venues because of poor ticket sales, or because of high demand, moving to a larger venue. As far as gear issues? That's BS. Many bands do in-stores the day of the show and manage to fit in radio interviews too, so that's a crazy excuse. He thinks we're stupid I guess. ______________________________________________

You know damn well the nightly "overflow" passes the rest of the nights of the celebration will not be this price. Living in Mpls and having seen him at the Park for free several times, there's no way in HELL I'd pay $125 to see him at the Park. No way. They better be offering at least partial refunds to those who spent that amount. It's ludicrous.
Just curious why you say this? Paisley is small right? Is it just that there are no seats? ______________________________________________

How long has he been performing that he JUST NOW realized "damn, I might not be able to get my gear back to Paisley Park in time"??? What a load of ...
There are people coming into town from all over the world, people that don't know their way around Minneapolis to begin with, and they most likely don't have access to their computer to check this last minute email. That is, if it even shows up in their mailbox. If your planning a huge 7 day event, get your shit together far in advance.

I agree that the NPG should have e-mailed everybody, but for the people going to the celebration all week long, and staying in Chanhassen, it's more convenient to have it at pp.Give the guy a break,he will make it right for the people.Get there early on Friday Everybody!
I think some people expect Prince to give it his all and than some and be perfect at the same time. He's only human Perhaps he will refund some of the money to the people that bought a ticket through Ticketmaster, let's wait and see.

I just got the emale a second ago. It is unfair to get notice at the last minute but the same thing happened to most of us at the Chicago show that came in from out of town that didn't bring our laptops. I never heard about the soundcheck until I got home and checked my mail. Regardless, I hope that things will work out in the end for everyone. And as I don't know my way around Minneapolis moving it back is helpful to me but I can see where it's going to create a lot of irritation to say the least. To those of you that will be there let's keep happy thoughts and hope the concert overshadows the nonsense leading up to the event. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I agree with U 100% baby, go 2 7th... minnyscoop update
U see while the cat is out on the town partying, chaos and disorder is in his own house... My opinion on this is dat they didn't sell enuff tix, I went 2 ticketmaster 2day and there was front row balcony tix still available, did I hear lack of promo? ((9 gatorgirl said: [color=blue:807a3f0b9c:11104e4e1e]This information should have been emailed to us since most of us hardly ever check the web site because it is never updated or when it is, it is updated with information that has nothing to pertaining to us members.
This was announced too late, too. Why was this "announced" a few hours before everyone is leaving to Minneapolis? (Maybe because he was hoping for more ticket sales , but what about the people who bought tickets for $88 getting in for the same price as the people that paid $125?) I am a person who likes a "plan of attack" and when I don't have one I am not a happy camper. I, as well as a lot of others, want to know what is happening this year. At least last year we had a good idea of what was scheduled each night. Can we honestly say we have any idea on what we have spent tons of money on besides the small-known fact that Prince is supposed to perform? We don't even have any real confirmation that our Celebration passes are there waiting for us and being purchased via PC, mistakes are bound to happen! What time will Prince be onstage? How long will each night last approximately? Prince is currently creating "last straws" with a lot of his fan/ms (trust me I hear them telling me this all the time) and he better dance and play his off or he is going to end up not being able to sell out anything because they won't want to spend their hard-earned cash on something or someone so unpredictable. I hope Prince reads this, too, because he needs to start correcting things before his fan/m base dwindles to nothing and they become unwilling to give him any second chances. Take it from me Prince, I know because they talk to me about their frustrations with you and wanting to just "give up" on you completely! Some people are already mad at him for his religious talks at concerts and now they are mad over the way we keep getting tossed around with the Celebration which is starting in HOURS! Prince!! Make your mind up and stick with it at all possible costs! We know you are spoiled and spontaneous but please wake up before you are not able to spoil yourself any longer! Your business decisions are your career! Once again I state that Prince needs to hire me if he wants to have a successful business which in his case directly correlates with his career. He would have to be willing to listen to me or whomever his business director is, too. Unless Prince decides to go for a degree in business I suggest he let someone (ME) make business-related suggestions and run the NPGMC since he is making the NPGMC the life vest to his career. Don't let it sink Prince, please.

-The Orpheum venue site says seats approx 2300 ppl. -When I bought tix, for $271 mind you, for the Orpheum show, it took me about 20 mins to get them. I got 2 balcny seats for the $125 price(near front) which means in about an hour, based on the available seats, they would've sold close to 1500 tix or more. That's a low estimate -I went the 1st year, there's no way pp can hold 1500 or more people. -Unless he holds the concert outside--"aint no way". I got thru at 2.00 pm on the nose, and purchased 1 top price seat...my seat was front row balcony. I have an idea that the majority of the mainfloor seating was reserved on a guesstimate of members that would be there. Based on the tix I was able to pull a few days ago, I don't think they sold more than 200 additional seats (beyond the passholders.) I f-ed up and didn't have a pass, so I bought the ticket to the friday show...137 buck$ after all the charges, for what? will the Orpheum ticketholders be stuck in a seperate area? i doubt it and hope not, it's still sucky tho, I could've saved myself 40 buck$ all along and got a "cheap seat" If $85 can be considered cheap. Since the show's been moved to a gen admission venue. I do agree that this move makes the "sold out" status of the celebration seem very questionable. Are they adding a wing on to Paisley for Friday nite, so they get a "fire permit" for more people? Breathe In, Breathe Out...It's Prince, this is not a surprise...I guess we'll all see how this plays out in 24 hours or so...

YoungandBeautiful said: What about the people that paid $125 for the Orpheum concert and expected to sit and be comfortable. I mean $125 for ONE Paisley concert sounds a bit much. If he was a decent honest man, he would refund the $125 or whatever amount was paid for the Orpheum tickets and admit those people into Paisely Park Friday night for $35 each. This is how it breaks down for each of the 7 nights at PP for the purchase of one $250 ticket. So he scammed the fans that really wanted to go and missed out on purchasing a ticket. Now they paid $125 to go into Paisley? Does this sound right? I don't think so. [This message was edited Wed Jun 19 20:21:39 PDT 2002 by YoungandBeautiful] I am sooo annoyed that I've paid this much to see a show in the soundstage...At the least, Partial refunds should be done to bring the cost of the Tix for non-passholders to the cheapest price ($85) but this would be a difficult task and would need to be done in conjunction with ticketmaster...in other words it'll never happen... o wellskies. i've NEVER paid this much to get into the park, so it'd better be a damn good show! k, I'll really put on my happy face now

I hope everyone who comes into town gets this info, and this doesn't start the celebration off on the wrong foot.
I'm glad that a lot of people used "objectivity" on this topic and are admitting that this could very well be a very messed up night on friday. I'm guessing that the Wed. show with Musiq sold a lot more tix than the Friday show with Maceo, since Musiq is more well-known to younger audiences. If it breaks when it bends, you better not put it in.

come on people chill if you are going to the cele you didn't have to pay to see the show anyway. so why are so many people bitching. at first you were mad when he move it now he moved it back and your bitching again. chill wait until you get there and see what happens don't bitch before you even get there. you guys don't even know what's going on. relax.

I agree with pretty much everything that was posted here, but my question is this: the reason given for moving the first night back to PP is still valid for the Musiq show on the 26th, right? It's not like Musiq's night is the last night of the Celebration, so they'd still have to get the "gear back to Paisley" for the next night. So, what makes this night any different? The same problem exists!! The reason just doesn't wash, and like everyone else said, it's surely due to poor ticket sales!
Oh yeah, and I finally got the e-mail announcing this this morning! I hope that those who already left for MPLS have an Internet connection somewhere! [This message was edited Thu Jun 20 6:29:50 PDT 2002 by alexnvrmnd]

By the way...tix are still available on-line for the Fri show "at the Orpheum". Clearly if space/cappacity at Paisley was an issue, they would've stopped selling tix immediately. Instead, he's gonna continue to rake in top dollar for a show he's already moved.
So, there were a few ads in local papers about this show. How will the general public (non npgmc members) be informed of this change?

I hope there are no more surprises, because I'll be out of the loop come tonight. Now, does this mean people will start lining up at PP at 8:00 am Friday Morning? Peace Yall and C U there. **************************************************

Just curious why you say this? Paisley is small right? Is it just that there are no seats? I guess it's just the principle. I've never paid that much to see him at Paisly Park. A concert hall is a different story. Yes, this is a much different event than a random late night party, but still. I was looking forward to at least 2 nights where there wasn't a mass of people smashed up to a stage waiting for a glimpse of Prince instead of dancing and having a good time before the show begins. The glimmer of hope, that just maybe, I could see him perform before 2 in the morning. (I'm a tired girl at that time!) This was just my knee-jerk reaction. I've calmed down a little. I know it'll still be a blast. It just seems like he works harder and harder to alienate the people who want to support his music. |

Also, he wants to sell aditional day and evening passes to ANYONE that shows up. So forget the people that might have orginially paid $100 to join the club just to go to the Celebration right?
Youngandbeautiful, would you please get your fucking facts straight before you start crying that you loved Prince sooo much but now he's nothing but a greedy ass? The daily passes does not include the concerts and most of the other activities, so people who are members still get more. And when he moves the show to the Orpheum then of course he does want people to pay...but only the non-members. Members with tickets do not have to pay for this again.

Is it thát difficult to get your ideas across in a bit of a less hardcore fanatic way and still do some commercial shit in order to reach a broad audience?
Why should he? And why should he be "washed up" in a year or two? Do you mean broke? And you actually believe that?

I think youngandbeautiful was saying that it was first promoted as a members only event. Many went out and joined the club in order to even attend. Now, the plans have changed and they will be selling additional day and evening passes to anyone that shows up...those that aren't members. So, those people who rushed out and joined NPGMC, really didn't have to. Although, by them becoming a member it did guarantee them access. She wasn't saying that members with tickets had to pay again.

I hope everyone realizes that there are going to be people watching the show from the NPGMC room. I'm sure they will open up the huge doors (The ones from the Gett Off Video), but you are not going to have good sightlines to say the least.
I'm assuming that these will be the people who bought the Orpheum tickets. I wonder what people will think when they realize that they payed $125 to watch a concert in a different room? I'm sure they will play it on the video board to help the people with the poor sightlines. How do I know this? Unless Prince is going to play outside the soundstage only holds so many people so they are going to have to stick the overflow in the NPGMC room.
