GOD v.s GOD What version do u guys prefer, the Instrumental edit or Vocal edit?
Alot of people on this board seem to pick the Instrumental Edit over the Vocal edit alot. I don't blame anyone 4 doing so as the Instrumental Edit is an awesome version as one poster wrote it was very moving and is affecting especially with the guitar solos those solos alone are breathtaking. I actually like the Vocal edit cuz it really adds alot of emphases on Prince's vocal range especially towards the end of the track when he goes all out. I like how the music was arranged as well, it had an eeire feeling 2 it through out the track. Most people believe this version is really obscure, i think it's done beautifully none the less. but, regardless i love both tracks and i must admit i can't really pick between the two.

the God vocal edit is one of the most beautiful things i've ever heard...Prince creating screams and cries across spaced-out keyboards...the whole aura of eerieness as u had mentioned earlier...its a brilliant track...shame it didnt make it onto the Purple Rain LP. The God instrumental is moving but i prefer the vocal edit cause of all the elements Prince pulled into it...and the best part was he did it all in one take in the studio...read that somewhere in the Hits/B-Sides LP sleeve.

The instrumental is great. I've never cared for the released vocal version. It's a little squealy for my taste. I don't think there's another Prince song that I've said that about. Now I think the live vocal version from the released Purple Rain tour video is a different story. I was blown away. cracknbush
