compilation cd's

Have u noticed that there are hardly ever any Prince tracks featured on compilation cd's (ie: 80's, funk, greatest male artists, etc) ? Why is this? It makes me sooo mad! mad

Basically, I think Prince simply ain't down with the idea of putting his music on something like that.

Not really best-of comps, but I know Prince is on the Bamboozled soundtrack and a Hendrix tribute album.

He's on:

Risky Business - "D.M.S.R."
Bright Lights, Big City - "Good Love"
Showgirls - 319, Ripopgodazippa
Blankman - NPG "Superhero"
Pret-A-Porter (Ready To Wear) - NPG "Get Wild"
Bamboozled - 2045 Radical Man
The Power Of Soul (A Tribute To Hendrix) - Purple House

I am not counting Girl 6, since that's essentially ALL Prince. I'm sure I have missed some though.

I should have remembered that one since I have it.

I had it on cassette! I was excited (at first) when Crystal Ball came out, because I love the song, but it's edited! sad

Maybe theres a copyright thing, or its just most generalists don't really dig Prince (savages) Look at generic complimations like "Music of the Millenium" The onl song on it is Purple Rain, and some of the remember the 80s album usually only have Purple Rain songs. Unfortunately I guess a lot of people have forgotten him.

In the early 1980s, I saw Prince on two K-Tel albums. "I Wanna Be Your Lover" was on a disco compilation that also featured songs like "The Second Time Around" by Shalamar. A few years later, I saw "Controversy" on a funk compilation along with "Super Freak" by Rick James, "Let It Whip" by The Dazz Band, and "A Night To Remember" by Shalamar.
Andy is a four letter word.
