I need help

I'm compiling a combination CD for my sister's new boyfriend to prove to him Prince deserves my undying admiration and is simply the best.

I don't know what genre or musicians he prefers. But he did get upset when I said Paul MaCartney was over rated and living off the reputation of being a Beatle and that he's not all that without John Lennon.

All I can give you to help you to decide which tracks must be included is that the guy is forty something and Australian.

Thanx for your help.

01) Dirty Mind
02) When You Were Mine
03) Controversy
04) 1999
05) Little Red Corvette
06) Let's Go Crazy
07) When Doves Cry
08) I Would Die For You
09) Purple Rain
10) Raspberry Beret
11) Kiss
12) Sign O The Times
13) U Got The Look
14) Thieves In The Temple
15) Batdance
16) Gett Off
17) Cream
17) 7

This should just about do it! If there's not enough room, you could leave off whatever you think your friend would like least.

I think this compilation showcases everything he can do, from rock to pop to "rap" and even soundtrack work thrown in there. Since this is for a forty-something man, there's only one real ballad (Purple Rain).

Good luck!

Prince's strength is his breath of his musical scope.
I find that most non-Prince fans are actually turned off by his falsetta, so I'd use that sparingly. I would also hit him with uptempo songs before any downtempo songs.

Thunder - Diamonds and Pearls
EndorphinMachine - The Gold Experience
Shy - The Gold Experience
I could never take the Place of ur Man - SOTT
When U Were Mine - Dirty Mind
The Cross - SOTT
God Created Woman - The Symbol Album
1+1+1=3 - The Rainbow Children
Little Red Corvette - 1999
When Doves Cry - Purple Rain
If I was Ur Girlfriend - SOTT
Guitar Instrumental - (I can't remember the name of it. It's NOT habibi, but was a guitar instrumental available on npgmc download once. Had a kind of orchestral feel to it.)
The Ride - any version will do
Pretty Man - Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic
Purple Rain- Purple Rain
(if you have space on your CD, throw in Jughead just to fuck with him)

I've made several mixed CDs for my friends--here are a few tracklists.
If possible, I think you should include some of his live playing (which is really more amazing than a lot of album stuff).

Option 1:
Paisley Park (ATWIAD)
Just My Imagination (live-Small Club)
Climax Guitar Solo (live-Neon Rendezvous Reissue)
Still Would Stand All Time (live-Small Club)
The Everlasting Now (TRC)
America (ATWIAD)
I'm Yours (For You)
Private Joy (Controversy)
Calhoun Square (Crystal Ball)
Bambi (Prince)
Witness 4 the Prosecution (a live version)
Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic (live-Small Club)

Option 2:
Return of the Bump Squad (live)
Days of Wild (live)
America (ATWIAD)
Superfunkycalifragisexy (Black Album)
The Undertaker (live)
The Ride (live)
It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night (SOTT)
Eye Wish U Heaven (live-Livesexy)
Forever in My Life (live-Small Club)

Option 3:
Christopher Tracy's Parade (Parade)
Face Down (Emancipation)
Dirty Mind (Dirty Mind)
A Love Bizarre (Romance 1600)
Let's Pretend We're Married (1999)
Girls & Boys (Parade)
Movie Star (Crystal Ball)
Partyman (Batman)
Lovesexy (Lovesexy)
Raspberry Beret (ATWIAD)
Uptown (Dirty Mind)
Prettyman (Rave Un2/Rave In2)
Beautiful (remix of The Most Beautiful Girl in the World)
Drive Me Wild (Vanity 6)
Sexy Dancer (Prince)

Option 4:
Ballad of Dorothy Parker (SOTT)
A Case of U (One Nite Alone...)
Xotica (Xpectation)
Amandla (live, a.k.a. The H Man)
Free (1999)
Just My Imangination (live-Small Club)
Money Don't Matter 2Night (D&P)
How Come U Don't Call Me (B Sides)
Pink Cashmere (B Sides)
When 2R in Love (Black Album/Lovesexy)
When We're Dancing Close & Slow (Prince)
The Beautiful Ones (Purple Rain)
Wherever U Go, Whatever U Do (Rave Un2)
Mountains (Parade)
Somebody's Somebody (Emancipation)
Sweet Baby (prince)
17 Days (B Sides)
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.
