CDs had a limit of 68 minutes in those days, also how many 79 minute albums has Prince made b4 the loping self indulgent filler laden monsters of the 90s. Spare a thought for the purchasers of records, 4 sides ow!!!!
I like the 2 disc concept, however I garee the content of both is similar, some ballads, jams, funk, rock and pop. 1 Cd or 60 It kicks ass. 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

I'm glad there were two CDs, because to me they each have different personalities ... and needed to be defined separately.
I'm not concerned about the time, but about the demarcation between Side/Disc 1 and side/disk 2. Forever in my Life is a perfect ending to the initial set of songs. U Got the Look is a kick-azz beginning to a new vibe and and what is actually the better song set. If all the songs had run together... without the break...for me it would not have been the same. [Edited 12/3/05 0:39am] I agree, the first disc is excellent and has a great sets of songs, but that second disc, is the most classic piece of music he has ever recorded, all the songs work, they cover every Prince mood possible, and showcase his musically ability to its fullest extent. U got the look, Funky, bitchy, elcetric shock pop with some fey campness. If I was ur girlfriend, the weirdest but cleverest thing hes done. Great use of lyrics and falsetto, then the spoken monolgue at the end Strange Relationship, Jazzy fizzy number with a catchy beat covering some pretty dark lyrics concerning a man with some serious control/love issues. I could never take the place, supreme marriage of catchy lyrics/beat and virtuoso guitar playing. Prince doing white rock to its best sounding capabilities, and yet it goes all black at the end, the scream at the end, ends 7 minutes of pure ecstacy. The Cross, a complete change of mood, the pleading thankful, yet introspective ballad. The excellent drum track and slow burner feel of the song turns into a full pleading vocal at the end, with some blistering drum and guitar work-the only religious song I like. Its gonna be a beautiful night, a great band performance showcasing many types of catchy vocals, rap, guitar work and some excellent jazzy numbers that makes Prince sound like the ringmaster of the funkiest circus in town!!! Adore, easily the best song on the best album, the human voices capabilities have been combined in this song, Prince proves hes got the best pop voice of the 80's in this supreme set of soulful lyrics. Theyre funny too especailly "Trash up my clothes, burn up my ride (Well maybe not the ride)Adore ends with the fan thinking MORE MORE, whichly sadly would never come. 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince
