it sounds like it was recorded in the mid to late 1990's
it has that "Dolphin/Dinner With Delores" sound to it. i always thought it must be something he wrote for mayte at the time after some fight or something. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

mayte. it sounds like an older song from the late 1990s. i'm speculating but the feeling i get is it was written after mayte ran away when he imported mani

i have often wondered too, which one of them inspired the song. i would think mayte, but then again, his whole deal behind musicology (as he stated) was about making new music, and putting the old stuff behind you...so why would he pull an old song from the vault to use?

Lemme introduce you to a guy named Prince. He's super awesome in a lot of ways, but there are a few conditions to having him in your life. One of them being that if you start a pattern of wondering "if he said X, why would he do Y?" then your head explodes. Don't do it. The Normal Whores Club

Maybe Mayte, maybe not, it could be about Kim for all we know.....the truth is every song isn't actually ABOUT somebody. It might not be about anyone at all.....he might have just been trying to write a hit!

true--i'm still unsure of why people think that every song that doesn't have an explanation/subject that's set up right out front is automatically supposed to be about whoever and whatever. "sexy dancer" is a perfect example. the song just is, it ain't gotta be about anybody.

half of the album sounds like vault stuff to me. Prince admitted in interviews that some of it is indeed vault stuff, but he wouldn´t really tell which songs were from it and which ones were new stuff. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

PS: I´m much more curious about the story behind If I Was The Man In Ur Life. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I know who it's about.
But, I ain't tellin.! Maybe you all need post the lyrics for closer examination. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

Because Prince is fickle and Prince osmetimes bullshits us. It could well be an older song. I love it though, whoever it's for. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

It's sad because it sounds like the wheels were set in motion by the time P realized his true love was standing in front of him. 'Where ever U r is home' Might not b Mayte or Mani
