This is not yet another topic about that Prince/James Brown/MJ video (but for the record: I think he was as high as a kite then). I'm talking about something far more recent.

Ok so I was watching Prince - The Art of Musicology (MTV) with a friend of mine (not a fan). I was watching it for the umpteenth time but the friend never saw it before. And at some point during the accoustic part he says: OMG the guy is definetely on coke. I was like What do you mean??!? And he says: Notice how many times he rubs his nose. He even stops playing "to make a comment" or something and everytime he discretely rubs his nose.
And he does
I even took Screen Captures to prove it, but for some reason the PrtSc option doesn't work with WindowsXP. But if anyone has that video, this happens at 00:13:35, 00:14:07, 00:21:05.

But after all, he's ritch, famous, parties a lot and probably under a lot of stress. Would it really be such a surprise?

I highly doubt it. When I'm at work and I have a cold or my allergies are acting up and I'll sniffle and then guys are like "Oh do you know where I can get some coke?" and I'm like "Ummmm it's called a COLD!" People assume and see things that are not there quite freqently.

Well, when I really look and study Prince's face while he performs, he has what I call "speed nose" - this is an actual change that happens to a person, that you can see in their nose. It's funny (and this will sound very odd, especially to people who've never done drugs), but their nose will turn slightly upward, and you can see what they look like when tooting a line up their nose.

However, I also know how a person physically responds when they are taking sinus medicine. The skin under their eyes kinda puffs up, or they look like they haven't slept well. So, my impression is that no, he doesn't do coke anymore. But he used to do drugs, I'm sure. You could just tell by looking at his face (the whole "coke nose" thing) especially in the Raspberry Beret video. You just can't stay up for days on end naturally, cuz narcoleptic hallucinations will take over and you're not lucid.

I will tell you something there was this guy NATHAN WRIGHT and then there was this Other Fan CLAIMED PRINCE BOUGHT DRUGS... I HAVE NO IDEA..To ME all I KNEW is they were BOOTLEGGERS and they RIPPED OFF PEOPLE. WHERE WAs PRINCE EVER HYPER ? I SWEAR if ANYTHINg PROBABLY POT and METH. Some said HEROIN. People TALK BUt he ALWAYS looked HEALTHY and he NEVER ATE so..... He EXERCISED and I just don't THINk he would DO HARDCORE DRUGS. I Think EVERYONE is FULL OF DOO DOO. I think TOMMY LEE is on COKE... y'know something funny. Once when i was at work, i kept scratching my nose. My boss came in to speak with me and i became very aware of my body language. I just couldnt stop scratching my nose! the more i thought about my physical behaviour, the more i did it! i was thinking, my boss is gonna think im on coke!

In short, perhaps what prince is doing is just a nervous 'fidget'....perhaps? i mean its a long shot and him being addicted to coke is far more plausable but just maybe huh!..ha

Especially during the piano medley people ALWAYS think he´s on coke, but I doubt it. It´s very difficult to use coke and maintain a 25+years long career and still look that healthy and still be that creative.

Prince's "out to lunch" posturing at the JB/MJ thing can also be witnessed on many Prince tours from 1980-1983 (at least). It's an act people.

No.He was NERVOUS.

He's always twitching around, putting his hand near his mouth and nose during interviews. Not really sure its a coke thing, but just rather a nervous reaction. If anything would be an indication of drug use, it would be his crazy mood swings.

He looked gaunt as hell around 94, and was really loopy around 97-98 as well. Nowdays he looks alot healthier and more down to earth. I can't imagine him being on drugs these days.

How many people here actually have done lots of coke to know what you look like after doing it? I've never done it, and my noise runs all of the time because of allergies. If I don't take my allergy medication, I'm constantly sniffling. My son has allergies too, and when not on medication, rubs his nose non-stop. He's only 9, and has never done coke either.

Now, I do have a very close family member who actually is a cocaine addict. They get high about three times a week, spending about $500-$600 a week on it. You would never know it to look at them. When they are not high, they are just as lethargic, lay around all of the time, eat regular, sleep regular, and don't rub their nose or sniff more than anyone else, and actually less than I do.

Really the ONE ASKING BOUT DRUGS are the ONES DOING THEM... They are the ONE'S with the PROBLEM NOT PRINCE and yes you are right I have HORRIBLE allergies and blow my nose and sniffle. I'm NOT DOING COKE. Like I said the one's ASKING Probably DO the SHIT! Prince is an ENTERTAINER. Ya DON'T NEED COKE to be FREAKY and PERFORM...

Given that he was surrounded by drug users in his band 4 many years and the dude never sleeps, I could see how he could be associated with Cocaine use. That was, afterall, the drug of choice 4 most of the Revolution. But at the same time, Prince is notoriously disciplined and his first interest has always been his work. Drug use would hinder that eventually, so I don't see him succombing.
