I never was crazy about the movie myself but it did prod me to learn all about Malcolm who has been one of my heroes ever since. Spike's movies usually never appealed to me, She's Gotta Have It, School Daze etc.., I thouroughly liked Bamboozled and The 25th hour though. He is a master at what he does, that can't be denied. he's also a great guy because he accepted my cd I handed him last year.

yes, why does that seem surprising, he's always distanced himself from blackness except when he was in trouble.

Dude, I guess you saw a different movie from the rest of us. Try reading the book.

Are there more guns and boobs in the book?

How about the space battle? I heard they didn't include that because of budget restrictions.

confused

No, I think you just need to go read a book. Do something constuctive with yourself.

This was a great movie about a very complex man. Spike Lee was maybe the only director that could have made this movie and who but Denzel could've played him.
Prince's investment would have been well spent.
Who ever said Prince has lost it - has lost it. The Kid's still got game!

That slave thing he (Prince) played the race card. I never felt sorry for him and if anything, felt sorry for warners for having such a pissy pri-madonna to deal with.

But the difference between The Child Molester and Prince was that P never disassociated himself from his race like MJ has. And THEN MJ (Molester Jackson) went pulling the race card once his record sales weren't where he wanted them to be and most recently when he got caught fucking little boys. Oops. My bad. I mean "sharing his bed" with little boys. wink

When I first saw it when he performed "Dolphin" on David Letterman, I never took it that way. Before I heard the story behind it, knowing Prince, I thought he was meaning he was a sex slave.

lol

Warners forced him to sing "sexy motherfucker" to the execs as part of his $100 doller contract, with Prince and the gameboyz stripping off appropriately.

Exactly. Prince may have went to La La Land a few times but he still brought some La La funk.

I remember that. That was funny as hell when he said....."He's racist and he's very, very devilish". lol

Why did so many people believe Prince was half white or not Black? How many people to this day believe it? If you asked a regular person on the street they would most likely tell you he was mixed or not even Black. Who's responsible for that shit? Who would allow their Black mother to be played by a white woman in a movie?

goldnigga please, when P went through rought shit he pulled an ace card motherfucker. I mean race card. cool

whoever said that the movie "Malcolm X" was boring or bad needs to check themselves for real. That movie was nothing but the truth, i guess those who object are waiting for a fully over-produced movie about Elvis or something, someone who really didn't impact or change the world that much, he just had music that teens weren't allowed to listen to.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

"Who would allow their Black mother to be played by a white woman in a movie? "

It is a movie dude and P's mom was very light.
Even he has said he is not sure what was going on with her background. In addtion, I don't know anyone who would think P was mixed. He is not even light enough to pass himself off a white or mixed. I also think some of you are forgetting the P came along in the late 70's. Black music was not the pop music of the day. P did not want to get stuck on black radio so he did not dwell on racial topics or issues. He waited until he was more established.

Are you black? Because P is not the that light. I would never think in a million years he was mixed. I have people in my own family who are the same complextion and both of their parents are black. I know people who are mixed who have blue eyes and kinky hair.

nod Well..this is very true for many black families. My daughter is very light and me and her dad are brown and darker brown skinned.

I think prince looks like a light skinned BLACK man. I've never thought he was mixed even when the lie was put out there that he was. And I know mixed ppl darker than prince so you can't tell by just looking at someone.

LOVE this movie. One of my top 5 of all time. Denzel was robbed--he should have won an Oscar for this. Delroy was brilliant. The length is my only criticism--I saw it in the theater with a friend--we didn't know how long it would be--and we didn't leave until 1:30 in the morning! Although I don't really know how one would go about cutting it; it almost requires an epic length...

One of my favorite scenes is when Malcom is on his way to the Audobon and Sam Cooke's Change Gonna Come is playing. That woman comes up to him and says something to the effect of, "I know you. Don't you pay those people no nevermind. Jesus will save you." Tragic.

The soundtrack is great too, except the absence of Cooke's Change Gonna Come.

I'm glad Prince supported it.
