Controversy Live @ Honolulu 2003 How hot is this track?
The way it segues outa I Feel For You (already an ACE performance), with that kick drum, how Prince says "Turn the lights off", that heavy bass; wow. And then the "Hit me". How the keyboards lay down the groove. SO unbelievable tight... The way the audience gasp. The way Prince keeps his voice tight. The "Ooh yeah", the scream. Then MY realisation this is not some lame medely, but most of the song, continued into a jam... I still get that GOOD feeling when he does the "People call me rude" part. But that intro, nothing short of amazing. And that break when he lays down the chicken grease! "Wait a minute! Is that me? On the one!.....[chicken grease] Yes, it IS me!" I have never seen Musicology live, just heard tapes, but to me the SHHH, I Feel For You and Controversy performances are just amazing; the highlights of the show.

I downloaded this from NPGMC the day it became available (the day the Musicology room opened), and I can listen to this one track on repeat for hours. It is soooo good. If anyone reading this doesn't have it yet, give the club your 99c now!

What's that line like "Somebody better put a stick up in here" or something? What is he talking about?

one of the (if not the) best tracks in the NPGMC download store Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

I listened to this song the other day and it was super funky, especially towards the end. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Yes, this one rocks!
From the performanes I know, the one from Fillmore might be my favorite, though.

Means the drums. It's during a break and that's his way of saying he needs a beat again.

Means the drums. It's during a break and that's his way of saying he needs a beat again. I think this line means that he wants some sort of sign there to remind everyone how funky he has been at that particular place. The folling "two, three!" or whatever he says then, cues the beat back in.
