Prince and Bruce Springsteen

Both are 80's Gods.

Both play Telecasters.

Both are singer/songwriters.

Both lead their bands through exhaustive concerts.

Bruce sang Prince's part during the We Are the World video.

Any other info about these two artists? They are like night and day. Get along? Barely stand each other? Respect each other?

Fill in the blanks:

Prince is a better ***** than Bruce?
Bruce is a better ***** than Prince?

At the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year, did Bruce acknowledge his younger contemporary? Did Prince and Bruce ever jam together?

Prince classic album?
Bruce classic album?

Prince went to at least two of "The Rising" shows but sat in the soundbooth and didn't join him onstage.

Springsteen and Prince were like 2 peas in a pod.
They were both factory owners. They both made shells for the Nazis.
But Prince's worked, damn it!

The two best performers in music, IMO.

Sometimes I lose a little interest in Bruce when he goes into his "troubador" phase like he is right now.

But last night I picked up the Born to Run Anniversary set. It has a DVD of a famous 1975 concert in London. Wow. There is not a band today fronted by anyone under 40 who could hold a candle to the Boss.

Bruce Springsteem epitomizes what it looks like when REAL MEN to play rock and roll. And yes, that is a slap at every Nickelback/Green Day/Nirvana/Weezer piece of crap band trying to pass itself off as a "rock" band.

Pink Cadillac is the most famous. The Fever is another, and Santa Claus is Coming To Town will be played a lot in the next few weeks. There is a collection of B-sides and unreleased songs on "Tracks", which is more or less Bruce's version of "Crystal Ball". Here's the details: http://www.amazon.com/exe...ct-details

Bruce also released more songs on "The Essential Bruce Springsteen". Here's a track list: http://www.amazon.com/exe...ct-details

True story:

Prince and Bruce Springsteen were both up for the title of "The Boss" in 1984. MTV was putting on a viewer poll that year (kinda like viewer's choice).

Prince of course had Purple Rain and Springsteen had Born In The USA ... both albums had monster success that year, many #1 hits and sold-out tours.

Bruce Springsteen won the title.

During a 1990 Rolling Stone interview Prince said "I'm not really into Bruce Springsteen's music, but I have a lot of respect 4 his talent. I admire the way he holds his audience-there's one man whose fans I could never take away. At one point, his band started going off somewhere. Springsteen turned around and shot the band one terrifying look. U know they got right back on it!"
Goodnight, sweet Prince.

I am SURE Bruce was called the BOSS before MTV even existed

Bruce has been called The Boss since the early '70's.

If you read the "liner notes" on Bruce Springsteen's greatest hits cd, he mentions the fact that Purple Rain kept Born in the USA out of the #1 album on the Billboard charts

Close....but you meant to say that "When Doves Cry" kept "Dancing In the Dark" from being Bruce's only number one single.
