Prince and Bootsey

Have Prince and Bootsey Collins ever worked together? It would seem a logical pairing, and likely, given Prince's closeness to George Clinton.

Yes, Bootsy has worked with Prince. I have a small article somewhere but after looking for it, can't lay my hands on it right now. But if I remember correctly, the small side-bar article in a musicians-related magazine has Bootsy stating that he went to Paisley and they jammed and laid down some tracks together. I think this was around 1994.

I've been waiting for these two to collaborate for years, and no, the Play with Bootsy album is not a collaboration (although it sounds close).

Bootsy and Prince are two of my favorite musicians and I think they could make some serious funk together. I recently watched an old video of Prince inducting P-Funk into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and waited to see if Prince and Bootsy interacted at all on stage, you know, a hug or handshake or something. Unfortunately the video I watched was edited so I didn't see anything of that sort. To be honest I also wanted to see Bootsy in his platforms standing next to Prince, which would have been funny to see.

(For the record, I do think Bootsy's Groove Eternal sounds very much like early 80's era Prince. "The One" does a great imitation on the track.)

- Yes, that´s why I think it was such a waste to record with a copy if it would be more interesting to play with the original...smile

Bootsy and Prince would be a hot collab. I honestly believe they would bring out the best in one another and would record some extraordinary music that they couldn't do alone at this point in their careers.

Well, Bootsy said it was Prince, and it sounds like him, so that's what I believe.

Mr7

The dude on 'Play With Bootsy' is not Prince as far as reports have confirmed.

He is what they call in P-Funk terms, a Clone.

I'd love to hear Prince and Bootsy together.

He'd be happy to hear you say it isn't him. You know how he loves to try and get away with being taken for someone else. This time, he succeeded!
