I will always have the memory of flying over this house in a little 4 person airplane and Amy getting sick next to me right over his house . It was after he had painted it brown though.

That picture fails to show the pool and tennis courts. YES! I said tennis courts. Eskomokisses has the archive of all of those pictures.

I see the pool,my mistake. But there are really tennis courts and the windmill blew down in a storm. He had that sent all the way from Holland, where he has a special spot in his heart.

I'll be a little bummed if he moves from MN permanently...being from Iowa originally I always thought it was great that he stayed in the Midwest even though he could live anywhere he wanted.
Plus there was that comment he made during the Oprah interview about how he'll always live in Minneapolis because the cold weather in Minneapolis keeps the bad people out. (I know, I know, he says a lot of things that end up changing...) figured out which interview edit [Edited 11/11/05 15:14pm] The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

you're from iowa? so am i... Yeah...I grew up on a farm in the house my grandfather lived in as a child. Everyone else in my family still lives within 40 minutes of where they grew up. But it's not for me--I always knew I would leave. It's too homogenous there + I am into contemporary art and the museums in Iowa are more into "regional" art. C'est la vie. Where are you from? So possibly he got tired of living in a town that according to their website this is what Chanhassen means
Chanhassen: n. tree of sweet sap a sweet sap then again if you go with the romors of Minnetonka he could always be moving to the Minnetonka ("minne" -- water, "tonka" -- big) ..... or maybe he just wannted to get rid of Larry

I went to undergrad at Drake. I actually didn't mind the Art Center's contemporary art collection, but it's not good enough to warrant me living there for the rest of my life. I believe the house was finished during the filming of UTCM so it's nearly 20 years old. We must remember that he went broke twice since then and some people keep mortgages for tax purposes.

This sig is meaningless. If one person, say, Bill Gates, earns 100% of all USA income, then he would rightfully pay 100% of all USA taxes. And your sig would say "The 1 richest person in the USA pays 100% of all taxes. So perhaps the rest of us should thank him for paying our share of taxes for us." Errrr, no, not hardly. Eileen

Eileen Yeah if only one person in this country made money you would have a point but like 150 million of us are earners and a 75 million people pay 96 percent of the taxes. :

I made exactly the proper point. If those 75 million people are earning 96% of the income, what percent of total taxes do you think they should be paying? 75% because they are 75 million people? Or 50% because they are half of all wage earners? Or how about 35% if they are grouped into 35% of all households? All meaningless numbers, especially in a country that is supposed to have a progressive tax system. Let's modify your sig and see how much sense it makes: The richest 1 percent in America earn 67% of all income and pay 34% of all taxes and the top half of wage earners earn 99.85% of all income and pay 96% of the taxes. So perhaps those of us who aren't in the top half should thank the rich for paying our share of taxes for us instead of bashing them. I didn't bother looking up the true numbers because I'm not the one trying to make a statement about our tax system - however you are so perhaps you should. Eileen
