Why are people so obsessed with record sales, #1 singles and Billboard stats? Especially when they aren't an indiciator of ANYTHING musically. Someone please explain this obsession to me!

I knew diamonds and pearls musta sold quite well, as i remember it being popular as a young kid, other then that i dont really know his sales.

I think not. Half the time I don't know what is being said when you start refering to his works, especally when it is in one letter caps. I enjoy his work, somewhat but have found several piece to be directly stolen from other artists. I have never been to a show or a gathering. I don't know when his birthday is or what he wanted to name his child.

I liked prince alot more before I got on line and got to 'know' him. He is wishy-waShy, spiritually blind and less then I expected him to be. His music is 70% the most beautiful music I have ears to hear and 30% wannabe pop rubbish. I see him as his zodic symbol sudgests. He is Gemini, two people. i know that some folks would prefer the album a year output but the filler of recent years has really hurt his quality credibility.

Maddy around 140m

Prince had sold about 60m by 1995. Dunno what his current stats are. Probably somewhere between 70 & 80m.
