I can think of only Sometimes It Snows In April, purely because of the lyrics - I imagine if someone came to them without knowing the storyline of the movie, they would think it was homoerotic, in a sense.

Prince likes his sugar walls too much to be misconstrued.

Right, 777 is just goofing around implying that Prince is saying that given the choice of having sex with a man or woman he'd rather have it with a man because having sex with a man would be more enjoyable. I'm surprised he didn't use his classic from Prettyman "Maceo, Can u blow?" lol

"If I Was Ur Girlfriend" is probably his most ambiguous song. It can be read many different ways - from a man to a lesbian, from a man to a man, from a man to a woman or from a woman to a woman. Either way, it fits... (pun not intended)

Its extremely hard to say if these songs are homoerotic, Prince may ewear makeup and appear effete, but I really you guys are clutching at strings which arent there, why is his sexual orientation so important anyway. Its the music that counts

His sexuality is not the least bit important but since a thread was started, I replied with a list. Some of the lyrics in those songs or even some of the song titles alone could very easily be perceived as homoerotic without ever seeing what Prince's appearance looks like.

I am surprised no one even thought of this one. Check the lyrics:

Have you ever been so lonely that you felt
Like you were the only one in this world
Have you ever wanted to play with someone
So much you'd take anyone, boy or girl?

From Anna Stesia, Lovesexy

Shit, I was just going to post that.

Those first lines could be construed as being homoerotic. Sexual contact can be a comfort thing for some people in times of emotional hardship. The gender of their partner does not always matter, regardless of sexual orientation. The song does portray the protagonist as being on the absolute brink. Regardless of whether or not Prince meant the song to be personal, it's not a huge leap to guess that those first few lines couldrefer to something more than friendly support.

Has Prince ever said anything about this particular song?

Slightly off-topic, but I need to ask: Why in the name of all that's holy do certain fans feel the need to defend Prince's sexuality? I agree, based on his lyrics and what little we do know of him chances are he is straight. But he doesn't need his fans to defend him. Why is being gay or bi still seen as such a bad thing that a man who openly wears makeup and women's clothes needs to be defended against accusations of it? He obviously doesn't care what people think of him.

I can't even count the number of times I've heard stories from other fans about defending him against people who say he's gay. I ask: what the fuck for? So someone thinks Prince likes dick. Big deal. His world's certainly not going to shatter because of it, and neither will yours.

For the benefit of those I've debated with in the past who felt the need to defend Prince, (you know who you are) my position on this is that he's probably straight -but that he's also a complete stranger and an individual, and anything could be true. The only person who you have even a chance of accurately, correctly guessing at and maybe understanding the whys and the whatfors of is yourself. No one else. Not a stranger, not even your closest friend.

Curious Child - I've suggested this a few times, and noone's ever responded, but I've always seen this as being about an incident of homo-erotic pubescent experimentation.

I think he's being defended on the gay issue because fans have their own issues about others thinking they like a presumed "gay" artist.

I used to get flack for liking Elton John in the 70's and Prince in the 80's cause they were "gay" artists. I never thought twice about it--most of the music I like IS probably made by gays or bi's.

The beds on fire
Your fate is sealed
And youre so tired
And the reason is camille-mille

If Camille is supposed to be Prince, and Shockadelica's about how Camille is so sexual with her men, then that's pretty homoerotic

And what's so homoerotic about When U Were Mine?

And let's not forget what looked like a gay orgy at the beginning of the 1991 MTV ass out performance of Gett Off.
